Pilots @ Gonzaga Saturday @ 2 p.m. Root Sports
Um, what can we say…..
It’s the final regular season game for both teams; it will be televised at 2 pm on RootTV; it has no bearing on the WCC Tournament seedings; and a win by UP will knock GU out of an almost certain #1 ranking in the nation, but other than that……
Oh, and it's the final home game for Guy Landry Edi, Elias Harris, Michael Hart, and possibly Kelly Olynyk, if he decides to declare for the NBA.

We kept Gonzaga from scoring for a bit over 3 minutes headed into halftime which is good. However, we were still down 19, which is bad. 21 points off 3's for us in the first half and only 6 from elsewhere.

Pilots scored 52 points. The other team scored . . . more.
On to Las Vegas.

What do you say, really? That is just an exceptional basketball team over there.

Agreed!DeanMurdoch wrote:Props where props are due. Well played Gonzaga.
Sure, we should never accept losing as a way of life...we can and will have a better season, but this is GU's time. I've enjoyed watching GU play this year and will continue to root for them when they get to the NCAA Tournament.....
.....and as I'd like to see them get a #1 seed, I'll probably root for them in Las Vegas tool....unless they are playing the Pilots.

Pilots Fall at No. 2 Gonzaga to Conclude Regular Season
SPOKANE, Wash. --- The No. 2 ranked Gonzaga Bulldogs completed a perfect West Coast Conference season and may have earned their first No. 1 ranking in school history with an 81-52 victory over the Portland Pilots Saturday afternoon at the McCarthey Athletic Center.
The Bulldogs (29-2, 16-0 WCC) won their 12th consecutive game of the season and, with No. 1 Indiana losing earlier this week, may move into the top spot in both the Associated Press and Coaches Polls when they are released on Monday. It is the fourth time that Gonzaga has completed an undefeated WCC season.
The Pilots (11-20, 4-12) finish the regular season in eighth place in the WCC standings and will open the WCC Basketball Championships with a first round game against ninth-place LMU on Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas.
Senior point guard Derrick Rodgers finished with a team-high 10 points for the Pilots, while junior forward Ryan Nicholas added nine points and nine rebounds.
Senior forward Elias Harris finished with a game high 20 points and nine rebounds, while junior forward Kelly Olynyk added 15 points and 11 rebounds to pace the Bulldogs.
Portland drilled a trio of early three-pointers to take a 9-7 lead, but the Bulldogs used a 19-3 run capped by a dunk from senior Elias Harris to push the margin to double digits. Gonzaga made it 46-21 with 3:11 remaining, but the Pilots closed the period with back-to-back three-pointers from Derrick Rodgers and Bryce Pressley for a 46-27 halftime deficit.
Portland scored on its opening possession of the second half, but Gonzaga would push the margin to as much as 34 points late in the game.
Gonzaga outscored the Pilots 42-10 in the paint for the game and had a 15-0 margin in fast break points. The Pilots struggled to 29 percent shooting from the field for the game, while Gonzaga finished at 49 percent overall.
Wednesday’s first round WCC Tournament game against LMU will be televised live on BYUtv and the Portland radio broadcast with begin at 5:30 p.m. on True Talk 800 AM. The winner will move on to face No. 5-seeded San Francisco on Thursday at 6 p.m.

Finally watched the game.....there were a few positives in bits and pieces from most everyone, but my concern is singular; where was Oskars??
I've already deleted the recording....did anyone see him on the bench?

I saw him briefly at the women's game today, or someone that looked a lot like him.

Ah Jeez!! I don't know what positives can result from Oskars' prolonged suspension except it may give his Plantar Fasciitis a chance to heal some.blacksheep wrote:Pregame Radio interview - Rev said he was in Portland still suspended. He didn't elaborate further.
How many more adversities will the Pilots have to endure before this season ends and NEXT season begins?

Yes, but he's been on the bench at home games so...it's not like a certain other suspension this year.

Did Rev say he was suspended or just didn't make the trip?
Maybe it was just the Plantar Fasciitis

I don't recall exactly what Rev said. All I know, is that Oskars wasn't in Spokane and Rev wasn't going to elaborate any further.

Re: Pilots @ Gonzaga Saturday @ 2 p.m. Root Sports
Not anything to do with Oskars, but perhaps an insight into how it works...
I was at a soccer practice last week and Bigs had a discussion with a kid. I don't exactly remember how it went, but the gist was
"make up four classes by spring break or you won't be playing"
