Re: 2013 Season
Seemed much like a survival episode tonight, but the Pilots DID survive 1-0 against UC-Davis tonight.
Certainly not the crowd we saw for the women's opener.....less than half full I would guess, but the crowd had one player in particular to cheer for, goal keeper Justin Baarts and his 14 saves.
UC-Davis seemed to have set-piece after set-piece, but Baarts repeatedly turned the Aggies away.
Jaime Velasco got the Pilots on the board when he split the Aggies' defense and got the ball to Corbett who flicked it to Iwasaki for a nice finish.
Lots of room for improvement.....but the Pilots are 1-0-0

Re: 2013 Season
Saw a lot of central American school of acting jobs tonight, one by a player who would hae done Greg Louganis proud. The ucsb coaching staff did some serious method acting. Real good at counting UP fouls that they thought should have been carded.
Forgot to count the hack job in front of their own bench that should have gone the other way and the takedown for DOGSO that should have gone for a red.

Re: 2013 Season
I thought all the players were named U.C.Davis...
That's what they had on their backs.
Sort of a George Forman thing, I guess.

But, the best student turnout for a men's game that I can recall.DoubleDipper wrote:

I thought Eddie Sanchez was having a pretty good game (and he's a freshman too) until he got sent off. I didn't see just what happened, and with it behind the play I don't know if the referee saw it clearly either.

Re: 2013 Season
The guys lost to Cleveland State today, 3-2 in 2OT.
Admittedly the Pilots were a little shorthanded today due to injuries, but still, one would expect a better defensive performance than we saw.
The offense looked pretty good, but to give up 3 goals against CSU does not bode well.....they've got to play tighter and tougher!!

Re: 2013 Season
4-0 over Air Force. This was the most dominant I've seen our men in a long time. Many contributors. The defense looked solid and there was some fine goalkeeping by Jason Dodson.

Lightning delay at Merlo for he Men's game. Lightning apparently hit on campus. Earliest possible start is 12:30 and that might be optimistic.

A physical game, but some good soccer played too as the Pilots beat Seattle U 2-1.Geezaldinho wrote:Lightning delay at Merlo for he Men's game. Lightning apparently hit on campus. Earliest possible start is 12:30 and that might be optimistic.
Maybe too many yellow cards (4), but the Pilots seemed to have the game under control for the most part.
The student section, however, must have heeded Geez’s advice and stayed home to avoid the lightning in the area……maybe I’ll see them at the T-Room before the women’s game.
