A Pilot in the U.S. Open
Turned on some highlights tonight, just in time to see a player sink a long putt, and hear him identified as Ryan Nelson, who played at Portland. "He's a Pilot", said Chris Berman. He shot an opening round 73, and is +2 in the Friday round after 9 holes, for +5 over all. Play was suspended for darkness, so he'll have to finish round two on Saturday morning. But the current projected cut line is 8 over par , so he's got a chance to make the cut. Pretty good for a qualifier.

Re: A Pilot in the U.S. Open
Ryan was in the last group to tee off Friday, so he has the most holes to make up on Saturday morning. If he makes the cut, it will be a long day with 27 holes to play.

Ryan Nelson ended up with a 78 for round two, so he was 8 over par on that round, and 11 over total. He did not make the cut.
