Re: 2014 Spring games
The Reign tweeted that the Pilots have backed out of the game on the 29th. "Schedule conflicts." I also hear the conflict has to do with a lack of healthy Pilots.

Spring match with UO 4/5
I didn't notice Lorielle McCluskie, Sara Bindl, or Allison Wetherington on the field against UO. Anyone have info on what's up with them? Hopefully just minor injuries.
Noelle looked strong & tough. Only Micaela made anything happen offensively. #5 for UO, Bri Pugh, looked very quick and fast, and made her presence known nearly every time she touched the ball.

I don't know about Lorrielle.
Wetherington had surgery and is recovering (Foot)? I noticed she is no longer on crutches.
Bindl is no longer with the team.

Re: 2014 Spring games
For those of you who were not able to attend the game, here is a short recap:
The Pilots with only 12 players available - including 2 seniors who don't normally play in Spring games - ended up tied with UO 2-2. The first half was a 0-0 tie. In the second half the Pilots scored on a corner kick, couldn't tell who knocked it in. A couple of minutes later the Ducks returned the favor with a goal off a corner of their own. The Pilots scored a few minutes later as Micaela Capelle (one of the seniors) dribbled around 2 or 3 Ducks to the goal line to the left of the goal, made a beautiful crossing pass to Danica Evans who was wide open in front of the goal. Danica easily put it away for a 2-1 lead. Unfortunately once again only a couple of minutes later the Ducks had a great shot into the upper left quadrant of the goal past the out stretched hands of Erin Dees (the other senior).

Sara Bindl
Thanks for the info about Wetherington & Bindl. Sorry to hear that Sara has left. I thought she played very well in the spring after her freshman year, including against the Thorns. I thought she made a strong case for being on the field, and I was disappointed that she got no playing time last fall. I assume she was also, and thus her departure. Attractive young lady.

Re: 2014 Spring games
The rumor that went around when Bindl left the team was that it was because of her asthma. I do not know how true that rumor was.

Re: 2014 Spring games
It is sad when we don't have enough players to even field a team w/o using players who don't have any eligibility left when spring is the time to develop your underclass ladies. Not very good planning when you have 8 players graduate and you lose 3 more and you only have 6 recruits coming in.
I'm not a fan of 35 players on the roster like UNC, but with injuries always an issue I think we should carry mid 20's which means you need recruiting classes in the 9 or 10 range as players leave or suffer career ending injuries.
In 2005 we were blessed with few injuries. Seasons since then we have not been as fortunate.

Re: 2014 Spring games
Pilots lost to the Huskies 3-0 today on Nike's turf field. The Pilots had only 11 players suited up, the Huskies had 18. Lorielle and Wetherington were at the game, but did not play. The Pilots controlled much of the play, but that control was mostly between the mid-field and the defense. The Huskies played a good game and made the best of their scoring opportunities.

Re: 2014 Spring games
The Pilots with the same 11 available as last week played much better today but unfortunately they lost again 1-0. The Cougars had a full squad and then some. The Cougars scored in about the middle of the first half on a series of several shots that the Pilot defense was not able to clear down field. The Pilots had several nice opportunities themselves, but were not able to put one in the net.
