Tourney Sites
I went to activate my family's NCAA bracket group on Yahoo today and found out that with the removal of facebook and google logins, they have also required that you verify your account by SMS. Not just a one time SMS, but signing up for marking SMS notifications. I am sure that you could then "unsubscribe" but this does not make me want to continue using them.
Do any of you have any experience using other Free hosting sites that you would recommend? I know ESPN will let you create a group are there any others I should look at?

"By clicking Send SMS, I have reviewed and agree to the E-SIGN Terms
and authorize Yahoo to send me automated, marketing text messages.
I understand no purchase is required (see Terms). "

Re: Tourney Sites
My family challenge has used the CBS Sportsline site for years... I have not been the one to activate it, so I don't know about that part, but it has worked fine. Too bad, I liked the Yahoo one better.

Re: Tourney Sites
I got the same message when I just tried to renew the Pilot Nation bracket.
I went ahead and set the league up. Hopefully they don't make all the players do this.

Re: Tourney Sites
It does make every user give their SMS.

The good news is that I haven't received any other SMS texts on my phone other than the password to open the bracket. The bad news is they've only had my number for 40 minutes.
I tend not to get too excited about these kind of things (my tinfoil hat protects me), but if there is a consensus to move the PN Bracket to a different site, I'm willing to move it.

Re: Tourney Sites
Don't move it on my account. I am not a big fan of requiring verification via SMS, but it is not the end of the world. It is that whole marketing thing that makes me not happy.
I have yet to decide if I will give it to them or not. But since there are members of my family that do not have sms plans (including my wife) in no way am going to be able to use Yahoo for my family brackets.
