Ken Bone is out
( no, not that kind of out)
WSU fired Ken Bone after 5 years and an 80-86 record. No word on a replacement.

Re: Ken Bone is out
This is not surprising, but unfortunate for him... with Moos as the A.D. in the palouse now, Bone did not really "fit" in, and the on-court results didn't bode well. I don't think that Bone had the media savvy necessary for a Pac-12 coach, either.

Re: Ken Bone is out
Bone compiled an 80-86 record, including a 29-61 mark in the Pac-12 during his five years……not good enough for most programs….
I think Bone’s lack of success stems from his failure to build a system that could win in Pullman where it’s often difficult to attract high-level talent. Bone did find and develop dynamic scorers such as Klay Thompson, Brock Motum and DaVonte Lacy, but having a TEAM on floor during his tenure was often not easy.
Just like UP’s difficulties last season, Bone was unable to recruit a capable point guard for two years in a row. Reggie Moore was dismissed before the 2012-13 season, which made Royce Woolridge the primary ball-handler and playmaker even though he’s more suited as shooting guard. The Cougars hoped junior-college transfer Danny Lawhorn would take over the duties this season. However, he was suspended during the offseason and left the team before the season.
Bone, was an assistant at UW, and had great success as head coach at Portland State and Seattle Pacific, but it just didn’t happen in Pullman. He still has two years remaining on his original seven-year contract that pays him $850,000 annually…..using the calculator that came with my new tablet, it would appear he’ll have to get by on $1.7 million over the next couple of years while he conducts camps and looks for a new home.
Ken will be fine…….

I believe the Lawhorn scholarship was the one that was originally to be assigned to Tanner Lancona before that whole fiasco. Wonder if that whole ordeal might have been the final bone of contention for Wazzu's AD.

The Cougars hired Ernie Kent to replace Ken Bone.
The more things change the more they stay the same.

Coach Bone is fine.....he's just been named the associate head coach at Montana under first year coach Travis DeCuire.DoubleDipper wrote:He still has two years remaining on his original seven-year contract that pays him $850,000 annually…..using the calculator that came with my new tablet, it would appear he’ll have to get by on $1.7 million over the next couple of years while he conducts camps and looks for a new home.
