The guy was playing until the fat lady sang and the horn blew. This was basketball, a competition, not a morality play. Maybe he would reconsider if given the opportunity to do it over . . .but his philosophical adviser Sun Tzu might suggest otherwise.
I assume Alec will be a little gun shy, cagier, when someone next extends their hand before the horn blows.

We should have left our best players in, been up by 35, and still tried to score on the final drive with 14 seconds. I hope we beat them into the ground next year, if they aren't too scared to play us.wrv wrote:The guy was playing until the fat lady sang and the horn blew. No offense to MartyMoose or the good PSU fans, but that's a classless move after we pulled our starters AND dribbled out the clock.

No problem Marty. Like I said. He was understandably frustrated and he probably still had his adrenaline going from the run against the freshmen. The boos let him know.
I noticed Alex shook his hand after.
I'm pretty sure it will be remembered next time. No early handshakes
I had no idea the spread was 12.5 points though. The kid should be walking in lighted areas only

Funny you should mention that....although not a betting man myself, I recall telling Mrs. DD it's a good thing the closing odds were 9.5 favoring the Pilots.....otherwise your comment about lighted areas may have had some validity.Geezaldinho wrote:I had no idea the spread was 12.5 points though. Save that thought for the Zags. Rivalries are formed by slights and incidents. This was all good.
You do remember Zags stomping on the logo, right? The best rivalries are when teams respect each other.

I've told others I fully expected that today....but it's (almost) deserved.
But, hey....how about that Dance Team:

The dance team was good. Folks need to get in their seats early. They were doing stuff before final warmups that showed they were having fun!

That was good of him. Hopefully it was just frustration rather than what it looked like.
Anyways, good luck on the rest of the season. Nice start at 6-1, hopefully you guys can make some serious noise in the WCC this season.

Re: PSU @ Portland, 12/3, 7pm
From the video of PSU's garbage-time steal and dunk, a case-in-point re: my annoyance with these new streaming video announcers:
"For the Portland Pilots it's a, improve to 6-1 on the year, 83 to 69. And more importantly, for Alec Wintering a career-high 27 points..."
Really? Alec Wintering scoring 27 points is MORE IMPORTANT than the Pilots winning the game? Half of what they say is just a collection of nonsense, cliche phrases.

750,000+ views. I'm betting a cool million by the end of the day.
I also think with sites linking to it, it may not update views in real time.

I may or may not have posted this on YouTube and sent it to Deadspin.
Combined, the two videos are now over 3.2 million hits. Pretty dang impressive.
My new favorite part of the video is the guy in the crowd giving the PSU player the overhead double barrel middle fingers (really a classic move!). You see him right as the camera pans over. Rumor has it he may even be a PN member

Yep, and that is why you don't see teams practicing dunks, alley-oops, etc., during warm-ups. D'oh!
Got called against St Mary's a few years ago at the WCC tournament by our old friend Dave Libbey.
They were playing the Zags
