i found this on a search engine. while i am too cheap to subcribe to a site like this, i like the fact that this site says her commitment is 'solid verbal'!! granted i don't know much about the other recruits who i am equally excited about, but after talking with coaching staff, she is the recruit i am most excited about. oh, by the way, check out her gpa. fits in perfectly here at u of p!!!

Great find, fozzie! The GPA is terrific and did you notice the four other colleges who were fighting for her? (Santa Clara, UNC, USC, & UCLA.) She MUST be major league! I'm sure the Pilots told her she has a chance to start every game for four years at attacking mid. cheers cheers cheers

I'm sure that when these young women come to a Pilots game and see what it's like to play in front of a full house at the Charles Complex, it has a tremendous impact. Who wouldn't want to play all their home games here, in front of this crowd of FANatic Pilots women's soccer fans?

I believe she's also friends with McCluskey. That probably helped in her decision.

agreed upsf, who wouldn't want to play in front of these fanactics!! however geezer, i would have to think that charney only committed here after kassie did if that is the case. otherwise, maybe charney brought kassie here? as for michelle olivier, who was recruiting her? given her geographic location an benig so highly ranked as a recruit, i could very easily see her being heavily recruited by the likes of unc, fsu, duke, virginia, georgia, etc....

Kassandra did verbal well before Charney did, or at least FANatic found out about Kassandra way earlier than anyone found out about Charney. My supposition that she had an influence is just that (a supposition). But the time line fits.

As to Michelle Olivier, I heard she seemed interested very early (2006 season, shortly after one of those crazy Friday or Saturday nights when recruits were visiting, the stands were full, and we were loud). It may have been my first post ever that I mentioned recruiting web site indications she might come here, and it wasn't long after that other websites seemed to confirm it was so.

I have no idea how the connection with Olivier was made, but the coaching staff does have friends on the East coast and Bill Irwin certainly has contacts with National Team coaching staffs. That's one of the perks of being a YNT coach.

Maybe she called us. It's happened before----

BTW- Rivals just put Lindsi Lisonbee on the "solid verbal" list for 2009

the last time i have been so excited about an incoming class was when lauren orlando [hanson] declared. at that time, being the novice i am/was, i read a lot about her. when i try to think about the other incoming classmates, i believe erin masaki an betsy barr as well as of couple of others were the only others i can remember. but, lauren was the one who got all the publicity, regardless, i can not tell you all that this is the most excited i have ever been!

That was one of the larger incoming classes UP had in years. It was Lauren Orlandos, Erin Misaki, Betsy Barr, Emily Patterson, Lisa Casagrande, Susanna Heikari, Erin Goodling, Valerie Fletcher, and Crissy Marti; of course, Susanna, Erin, Lisa and Crissy never finished their careers with the Pilots. Six or seven of them end up being regular starters that year, along with 2 or 3 sophomore starters; all told, I think they only had about 5 upperclassmen that year. Besides Lauren, Lisa Casagrande and Susanna Heikari got a lot of attention as Portland's first two overseas recruits (Australia and Finland, respectively), and especially Casagrande as (at the time, I believe) the youngest player to ever to play in a Women's World Cup.

Well, Geez now has introduced a new verb, "to verbal." Down the road, it will turn to "to written." Welcome back everyone! Great to have you back.

In accord with my obsession with the RPI, I'm going to start conducting an RPI trivia contest, with little questions here and there. So here's one: How many games did Colonial Conference teams (the Colonial being considered, at least in the East, as equivalent to if not better than the West Coast Conference) play against West region teams this year? Answer to follow!

Hey! Verbal IS a verb--ask any coach.
example

In basketball, you can also apparently "score the ball"

My guess--7
