They say we have offered Brandon; he is class of 2009. They also rate him 3 stars (but we all know how reliable those ratings arent...)

Re: New Prospect: Brandon Smith
OK... I'm back!
Here's a nice quote from the Rivals write-up:
It also says that he won the Mr. Hustle award at the Les Schwab Invitational (annual HS tournament held here in Portland) and lead DeLaSalle to a 3-1 overall record there.
Unfortunately, it ends with this:
So... sounds like he's got a good relationship with Rev, but also feels like his talent level is above the WCC. So we'll see... good luck to the coaches!
Here's a nice quote from the Rivals write-up:
The junior guard already has scholarship offers from the University of Pacific, Portland, Denver and UC-Davis. Of those schools he says he has already established a relationship with one coach familiar with Bay Area basketball.
"Me and Coach Rev talk a good amount," Smith said of the Pilots head coach and former Stanford assistant, "so I have a little bit of a relationship with him. He came to a couple of open gyms during the fall, so we were able to talk a little bit then."
It also says that he won the Mr. Hustle award at the Les Schwab Invitational (annual HS tournament held here in Portland) and lead DeLaSalle to a 3-1 overall record there.
Unfortunately, it ends with this:
"I honestly believe that I'll play in the Pac-10," Smith said. "I was able to go to Cal's elite camp. Arizona had one in August and I was able to go to that. I did really well in the Cal one, and Arizona I played well also. I feel like I can play up there with the best of them."
So... sounds like he's got a good relationship with Rev, but also feels like his talent level is above the WCC. So we'll see... good luck to the coaches!

Re: New Prospect: Brandon Smith
We can always hope he slips down a little, Knutson was heavily recruited by Stanford in the PAC 10 until the Lopez Brother's decided to return . But the reporire ,and desire to play for a big man coach like Rev was a big factor for Portland . (He did get a home visit from Trent Johnson the Stanford coach.)
But, he choose Portland over Arizona State , etc and other teams who came on late in his recruiting. Like they say you can always improve a player, but you can't teach 7 foot. 6'9" and growing in his case.
Looks like 2009 would be a good year with two schollies opening up
