Baseball 2020
Interesting "cold weather" schedule for the Pilots this season with games in Ridgefield (8, Hillsboro (7), Seattle (1), Omaha (4), Corvallis (3), Boise (2), Spokane (3), and finally Portland (4) before heading south to the warm climes of Malibu.
With the construction of the stands surrounding Joe Etzel Field underway during the season, the plan is to play 7 home games with fans sitting on the grass berm beginning April 7 (hope it's dry ), and then finally, two weeks after graduation, Joe Etzel Field will have the new seating open for the final series of the season against SMC on May 15.

Re: Baseball 2020
I imagine that putting that schedule together was a nightmare. Looking forward to seeing the finished stadium!
According to the r/CollegeBasketball sub-Reddit, we will be playing Creighton back-to-back but Creighton will not be playing us back-to-back. The Blue Jays have a game against Nebraska-Omaha in between.
Fun fact about this season: the team will be "going to Omaha." Creighton plays their home games at TD Ameritrade Park: the venue for the College World Series.

Re: Baseball 2020
Wow! The UP baseball team is about to win its 10th game of the year with a 4-game sweep of Steven F. Austin. Add that to an opening season 3-game sweep of Nevada, and a 3-1 series victory against Utah Valley and the Pilots are on an amazing roll! Maybe playing home games on the road isn't so bad after all. GO PILOTS!

Yes, the Pilots are 10-1, the best start to a season in 10 years...and redshirt freshman outfielder Jake Holcroft is the Rawlings WCC Player of the Week after batting .688 against Stephen F. Austin this past weekend.Shadrach wrote:Wow! The UP baseball team is about to win its 10th game of the year with a 4-game sweep of Steven F. Austin.
I can't even imagine someone hitting .688, and although they are different sports that require different skills, the UP Men's Basketball team's free-throw percentage was .675 this season.
Holcroft is batting "only" .535 for the season, good enough for fourth nationally...and he ranks second nationally in hits per game (2.3).

Re: Baseball 2020
Alright then!! The Pilots keep the mojo going as they take down UW 3-1 at Chaffey Field in Seattle. Next stop Nebraska where they take on Omaha in a double-header on Friday and then single games v. Creighton on Saturday and Sunday. It's spring break on the Bluff and the team will return home for classes on Monday. GO PILOTS!

Re: Baseball 2020
Went to the UW game.
There was a strong gusty wind which made it absolutely ****ing freezing. No heating except maybe the bathroom so there was a small group huddled in the walkways. Also in the 3rd or 4th inning part of the field lights went out so there was a brief delay which didn't help matters.
It was $1/hot dog night so dinner was pretty cheap. Didn't keep me warm though.
Starter had trouble throwing strikes, but the reliever and closer did a fantastic job.

He had originally planned to attend Santa Clara University, but when the school changed coaching staffs, Brown changed his college plans.
