Oh my God. I'm sure he's doing it for all the right reasons, but what a loss for the Portland soccer community.

He'll be missed.
The last remnant of the original Timbers Clive played for.
I recall he retired in 2003 just before Clive died. He was persuaded to come back for the game where Clive's jersey was retired and stuck around, even through his daughter's death in a car accident. I can't think of another mascot that lasted as long and served as well as he has.
He's getting up in age. He's almost 55, maybe a bit long in the tooth for climbing the 75' pole. I think he deserves a dignified retirement. maybe he''ll make guest appearances on special occasions.
