Huge add! Great news for the Pilots and I'm told Aussie Rapp is pretty darn good too.
I can't think of another 4-star recruit (by a respectable media outlet) for the Pilots. I thought maybe Kevin Bailey, but just looked it up and he was an ESPN 3-star (although right on the cusp of being a 4-star).

Silky smooth stroke. Wonder if there is tape of him playing lock-down defense?

I know that the team manager Kap Laila has been/is trying to walk on to the team. Deserves to be on the team over some of the guys they had this year imo.

Good for him, he should give it a try!!UP24 wrote:I know that the team manager Kap Laila has been/is trying to walk on to the team. Deserves to be on the team over some of the guys they had this year imo.
I've never had the opportunity to talk to Kap but have watched him taking care of the team from behind the bench at every home game this season.
About 6-6/skinny, I seem to recall Kap being a stretch-forward at Franklin HS in Portland and very good at putting up 3-pointers.

Re: 2024 Recruiting
Originally from Oakland, 6-6 shooting guard John Wade has been around a bit since graduating from high school in 2018.
With just his covid year yet to play, he's had stops at Contra Costa JC, D1 Cal St. Northridge, and D2 Stanislaus St., located in the San Juaquin Valley just south of Modesto, CA.
Wade does not have standout numbers, but he does have a good highlight reel from this past year at Stanislaus.
If UP is indeed interested him, it would indicate the staff is looking for some senior experience and leadership.

Re: 2024 Recruiting
From Fresno with two years of eligibility remaining, George played 22 minutes and scored 7 points off the bench against UP in the first game of the season and averaged almost 11 ppg over the season while shooting 35% from behind the line and 53% overall.
What I remember about him from that UP game is his athleticism and ability to get into the paint to score and rebound.

Discussion on the SMC board assumes Jefferson is a lock to go to UNLV. Vegas is his hometown. He'd be a great addition to the Pilots.

We should be seeing him in the Chiles Center this coming fall.

Aussie Commitment from Elon
MacKinnon is a great recruit to land after losing Juansee to the portal. I love the 5 rebounds a game. Hope we can see images of Nik Raivio, who was one of the best rebounding guards I've ever seen on the Bluff. I'm also loving the size of the backcourt with MacKinnon, Vuk Masic, Chris Austin and Vince Delano. I'm sure there are others but that group has solid upside.
The forward positions are also shaping up nicely with a healthy Tyler Harris, a quickly developing Bol and a steady Kelson Gebbers who everyone is behind. Two super athletic and highly recruited freshmen with Jinoup and Todd Jones also give a lot to be excited about. My analysis on the 24/7 recruiting showed they were two of the highest rated recruits we've ever seen on the Bluff (above Kevin Bailey).
Finally, the big man position should include a rotation of Aussie Rapp and another transfer big, which is still a critical piece. As an international player, Rapp doesn't show up in the recruiting rankings, but my research tells me he is an impact big who we're so fortunate to have. We still have work to do to land a quality transfer big, which is tough to do. But not nearly as difficult as playing 6'5" Chika as a starting freshman at the center.
If the coaches are able to develop this team, we avoid the injury bug and we can keep the core together, we will be challenging the top-four WCC teams. I know... call me the eternal optimist, but there are some nice pieces coming together. Losing T-Rob hurts immensely and Juansee had a lot to offer the program, but I'm excited to see this new group gel with the returning core.
