It didn't "seem" that bad at Merlo:

But the number of particulates in the air and the unhealthy conditions seemed obvious from my living room a little earlier:

AirNow.gov showed a sensor on their map that looked like it was on the Merlo press box that showed readings of 163, towards the high end of the unhealthy red zone. I was seriously thinking that with my lungs the live stream was looking good from my living room with 2 electronic air cleaners humming away.

Well, my nasal passages are shot, so I did my share of inhaling without smoke involved.

Perhaps it was a good thing the SMC matched was postponed so the team could gather itself after the shellacking in Provo and before facing SCU, a team that is 5-0-0 in the WCC.

Remember, this game at Santa Clara begins at 1pm tomorrow (Saturday) and will be streamed by the WCC Network at PortlandPilots.com or directly from the WCC website.

I just looked at last year’s NCAA Tournament bracket and realized that BYU and Santa Clara both were College Cup teams. Santa Clara lost to BYU in the semis on PKs; and BYU lost to Florida State in the Championship game on PKs. That gives some context for our losses to those two teams in our last two games.

Kayla Adams was awarded this week’s WCC offensive Player of the Week award for her game winning goal and assist against Pacific and goal against St. Mary’s.

The freshman forward scored two goals over a two game span for the Pilots, including an assist in Saturday's match that led to the game-winner. Saturday's 3-1 win over Pacific was Adams' second game this season with one goal and one assist. This brings her total goals up to five this season, which is the most recorded by a Pilot in her first year debut since Danica Evans did it in 2013.

She also has three assists so far this year.
