Ugh, Part II
Not pretty tonight vs. SMC... we are really looking like a team of boys among men, again....
Granted SMC and GU are by far the best 2 teams in conference... but we cant get any offense going, and our defense is spotty at best...

Re: Ugh, Part II
This is really embarrasing. I know that St Marys and Gonzaga are the two best teams in the conference, but I expected a lot more from this group, even if they are a relatively young team. We should be much more competitive than this.
How long can we keep saying, "wait until next year", or "wait until 2-3 years from now"? I just want to see improvement, and I'm not seeing it during league play. This is so very frustrating. But I will always love my Pilots no matter what.

Re: Ugh, Part II
Jim Barnett comment of the night: "Portland, just a little over matched." A little??!! Yikes. The start of this game was some of the ugliest play ever. Wild out of control shots. Air balls galore. Inability to even get shots off. The turnover to start the second half was indicative of the problem; unable to inbound the ball against one defender.
BTW, if Santa Clara doesn't throw away a win today, St. Mary's would have had GU at home for sole possession of first place.

I agree with the opinion that it's starting to get too late in the season to say wait till next year. After this much of the season having gone by the freshman have experience, the sophmore's have more experience and the upperclassmen should'nt be so overwhelmed like it's their first year of D-1 baskeball.
The one real bright spot I see is Reveno, most coach's by now would have thrown the ball out on the court for the pilots in practice or in games like it was a YMCA or AAU game. I have a strong suspicion that he might surprise us with some good student/athletes like he did while he was at Stanford.and who he will recruit.Maybe some who can step on the court and contribute immediately ie Lawrence Hill,Lopez Brothers,in the mid-major college size.
Hopefully for now they can play better, rebound, and one player can have a break out game (I am starting to dislike 9-11ppg averages). I don't mean 18 either. I long for the day when Ravio(4-20+games?) hit that NBA three pointer to beat a good hanna MONTANA. team
Whoo yoo one Week until my first visit to the Chiles Center and Campus,

Re: Ugh, Part II
This is beyond UGH!! I see the team backstepping. There has been no improvement through the season. At least earlier in the year we could play UW close and win at Montana. Then we go to Yale and the season spirils downward. Our guard play is atrocious. Watson, as I said last summer, is an out of control player who more than makes up for any positive contributions he can make. Hopefully, our guards will be better coached to at least get the ball inbounded. I've been saying wait til next year too long. We need this team to mature!
