I'm excited!! Just over a month to go before the 2007-08 season starts...When do the Pilots officially hold their first practice? Would be a interesting to go up there and watch the first one....preview the team.

I drove by the school today around 11:30, and the women were out practicing on the new terf.

Interesting question.

Here's the rules for the Men's program. I assume the Women's is similar.

1. Preseason Practice-- A member institution shall not commence practice sessions prior to the date that permits a maximum of 16
practice opportunities prior to the first scheduled intercollegiate game or prior to September 1, whichever is later.

I assume that means full blown practices with coaches and players. Informal player conditioning and individual player - coach interaction is probably covered elsewhere.

That probably means that the men can officially start the 15th, the women the 16th , assuming they practice on Sundays.

The new artificial turf looks really nice... the fence is up around it, as are nets behind the goal. I am surprised at how natural it fits in there... I was worried that it might be a bit of an eye-sore because the old open grass always looked great, but it actually looks really nice.

I wish the other grass field would be ready to use, though. That is still all fenced off... I wonder when it will be good to go?

I guess in the meantime they can practice on grass in Merlo or over on the Shipstad quad, but still... neither is ideal.
