2007-08 Non-Conference Schedule
Anybody know when it will be released or have confirmation of some interesting or high profile opponents?
Seems like it should be out any time now.

Concordia 11-3 exh
Oregon St 11-20
BYU 12-1

LMU 2-9
Possibly PSU 11-10
Maybe soon. the women's schedule is out already. you can glean the WCC schedule from that

Re: 2007-08 Non-Conference Schedule
Just a note... BYU is at HOME. Nice! That was some good scheduling, getting a home-and-home with BYU.
We should be playing Oregon at home as well... I doubt they would cancel that series. And Oregon State should be home too, though I couldn't find that game confirmed anywhere. Portland State will be home.
So assuming all three of those games will happen, the home non-conference schedule looks pretty good so far: BYU, Oregon, Oregon State, Portland State, and (see below) Cal-State Bakersfield.
Anyway... here's what I've got so far:
v Fresno State (at the World Vision Classic) 11/9-11
v San Diego State (at the World Vision Classic) 11/9-11
v Liberty (at the World Vision Classic) 11/9-11
at Washington 12/15
at Yale 1/2
Cal-State Bakersfield 1/25
at Gonzaga 1/28
Gonzaga 2/25
Looks pretty tough, that's for sure. With a young team that first tournament is going to be brutal... I'm guessing that Yale will be a return game next year. Not sure about Washington... though actually I bet it might.
I'll keep trying... if anyone sees anything else, post it up!

Looking Good
Glad to see some "real" teams on the schedule... I prefer to play up than schedule a bunch of cupcakes.
Is the U-dub game replacing Wazzu? I would think so, but would love to play both... we usually have a couple of the Big Sky teams in addition to PSU. I would venture to say we play one of the Montana schools, maybe Weber St. again?
We always seem to be one of the last WCC schools to release our schedule...

Re: 2007-08 Non-Conference Schedule
There are tentative schedules for all the Pac 10 schools on the Pac 10 site.
only 2 Pac 10 games for UP are listed there.
UP is listed on OSU's schedule for 12-28 at OSU (Different than the 12-20 date I saw at UP)
UP is also on UW's schedule for 12-15 at UW
No other games (no Oregon)
The PSU game can't be 11-10 if we are at the classic --not sure where I saw that.

Re: 2007-08 Non-Conference Schedule
Hmmmm... that's not good. So we have to play at OSU (we did last year too) and no Oregon? That would be a huge disappointment. That series has been going strong for a long time now.
And it's mutually beneficial too. It gives those schools a chance to play in Portland in front of all their boosters and alums. They always host events and do stuff like that around those games... I guess the Ducks do play in the Pape Jam up in Portland, but still... that would definitely be a bummer.
Well shoot. The home schedule doesn't look so great now.

Re: 2007-08 Non-Conference Schedule
let's hope the 12-20 at UP date is the right one.
Also, The WSU schedule had no games besides the Pac 10 schedule, so there is still a chance there.
I just came across this
any idea about a replacement?

I just came across this
Syracuse University has hired Ryan Cabiles as the strength and conditioning coach for both the men's and women's basketball programs.
Cabiles has been the strength and conditioning coach for the University of Portland's 16-sport program since 2001.
any idea about a replacement?

Re: 2007-08 Non-Conference Schedule
Yeah... I meant to post that about Ryan a while ago. I'm really happy for him to get such a great job, but it's a big loss for UP. Ryan is an awesome guy - super nice, very talented at his job, and well liked by everyone. Good luck to him out East! And if nothing else, I bet it will be fun to see the Carrier Dome rocking every night... a bit of a difference from the Chiles Center, huh?
Those will be big shoes to fill. Virginia Thomas is still there and she does a great job too, but I hope they can find a really good replacement for Ryan.
Anyway, back to the schedule - yeah, a lot of those schedules were missing games. So who knows? Hopefully we will be playing the Ducks. But if not, well... I hope we can get another quality team into the Chiles Center. I know how tough scheduling is so I'm not holding my breath, but it was nice to always have one or two "big" games a year (Oreogn, Oregon State, Gonzaga pretty much being the "big" games)!

Re: 2007-08 Non-Conference Schedule
Thanks for the info guys.
UW is a pretty good get. I just might the trip up there. I remember going up there a while back when we played Michiigan in a tournament in 1994. I was hoping ND might give us a return game with our AD's influence. BYU is a major get as well. Not too bad. It sure beats some of the NC schedules we've played in the last few years from what I've seen listed so far, but I'll reserve judgment until i see the entire schedule.
GO Pilots !!

OSU basketball
looks like the OSU game is fixed for Nov. 25th at OSU , according to today's Oregonian.
Now, if we can figure out if/when UofO is scheduled.
