I just notice the Big West added five new teams - Houston Baptist, Texas Pan-Am, Utah Valley, North Dakota, South Dakota, and
New Jersey Institute of Technology! That's in Newark! - just across the Hudson river from NYC.
You know how we keep saying that the WCC will expand to 10 teams? This opens up new opportunities. How about Colby College in Maine? or Stoneybrook on Eastern Long Island? There must be a College in Puerto Rico..
We could call it the not-so-West Coast Conference.

Geezer... this actually has nothing to do with the Big West (UCSB, Pacific, Fullerton, Irvine, Riverside, etc.).
They just formed a new all-sports conference called the Great West, made up mainly of formerly independent schools. (NJIT, Texas Pan-Am, Utah Vally, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Houston Baptist).
The Great West had formerly been a football only conference, with Cal Poly, UC-Davis, and Southern Utah still in it as football only members.

It's really a strange conference, but I guess it's nice that all those independents banded together. If Seattle doesn't make it to the WCC, this is probably a likely destination for them. (It even mentioned it in the conference's Wikipedia article.)

Oh-- you mean it's the GREAT all-over-the-place conf.
never mind....
Still seems like a long way to travel. NJIT isn't even on the west side of Newark.
