I think I know someone out there that has UP scarves, PM me if interested.

Aren't they in the UP bookstore/apparel site listed as "Rugby Scarves"

No, those technically are scarves, but DEFINITELY not football scarves

My understanding is that the university is producing a soccer specific scarf this year, in fact I think they sent out an order form to season ticket holders.

Yep, that was my understanding, too, and they are taking orders from season ticket holders. Scarves will also be on sale in the bookstore this fall and also in the stadium on game days.

Do you have a picture or description of said scarves?

From the illustration on the order form it's a basic design: purple on one side, white on the other, one side says Portland, the other says Pilots in the new lettering.

The official scarf costs $20, the unofficial scarf sells at cost for $10.

I am a proud owner of the $10 scarf. I know....the official one sold by the school has the new official Nike Portland Pilot logo, but the unofficial one has character that I will always cherish. The history behind how they were made adds to their value. So I say...Go for the unofficial version.
