Can't say I'm sad to see us get off the Money Station... call me persnickity, but I enjoy listening to the post-game interviews on the drive home. Was very annoying that it didn't come in up in North Portland... or downtown... or in Northeast... Smile

PORTLAND, Ore. --- The University of Portland and AM 970 ‘The Talker’ (KCMD) have come to terms and will broadcast all 2008-09 Pilot men’s basketball games, it was announced on Wednesday. AM 970 will air all exhibition, regular season and postseason games that the Pilots will play in the upcoming season.

Weekday evening broadcasts will go on-air at 7 p.m. or 20 minutes prior to tip-offs scheduled for 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday games will go on air 20 minutes prior to scheduled tip-offs. A pregame coach’s show will air 20 minutes before tip-off when there are no programming conflicts.

Tom Kolker will return for his second season as the voice of the Pilots, providing the play-by-play commentary and coach’s show content.

Portland faces an ambitious schedule with a young team this year as nine underclassmen and no seniors are on the 2008-09 roster. Head coach Eric Reveno returns four starters and nine lettermen, including seven of his top eight scorers, from last year’s team that finished 9-22 overall.

After opening with a Nov. 7 exhibition against Linfield, Portland begins its regular season with a home game against the Washington Huskies on Saturday, Nov. 15 at 8 p.m. Other notable non-conference games include match-ups with Oregon, BYU, Nevada and an appearance at the Golden Bear Classic hosted by California.

The West Coast Conference season opens Jan. 10 at Gonzaga. The WCC sent a league-record three teams to the NCAA Tournament last season as San Diego and Saint Mary’s joined Gonzaga in the Big Dance.

The 2009 WCC Tournament will be held at a neutral site for the first time in league history. The Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, Nev. will host the event on March 6-9.

Or anywhere that I could find. When you can't get the broadcast on the campus - something is wrong.

I'm glad for the change.

What are you doing out on 82nd at night?... Suspect
Well, anything would be better than 1550. You try to listen to the Beavers while you're at downtown in the stadium, and by sundown the Spanish station next to it on the dial is almost drowning out the game. Pull Hair

Always had the same problem in West Linn. Does AM 970 do an internet stream, or am I out of luck in Salem?

Excellent! I gave up on listening to road games completely. Is Tom Kolker the same guy who does the Rev Reports?
