I'll write more about the game later, but all I can say is... how freaking sweet was that win?

Robin Smeulders is the man, Ethan "Needles" Niedermeyer was clutch and hustled all over, Campbell is legit good, Kramer was huge in the second half, Nik was huge early... just a sweet, sweet win.

Concast NW is showing the game again tomorrow morning at 7:00 AM.

You'll have something to eat your Cheerrios to in the morning

Then they will show the NAU game followed by the Texas game at 2:00

That would be a 1 hour delay for the Texas game, which is scheduled to start at 1:00

The Husky fans weren't happy when we started yelling, at least you aren't as bad as your football team and sang the fight song at them, tee hee...

Um as a born and raised Husky I do have to stick up for Brandon Roy.... And Detlef Schrempf... And Curtis Allen... Those were 3 very classy dudes, but honestly the way their team behaved today was just flat out embarrassing.

The reaction to the scrap that caused the stoppage in play:

"Frustrations reached a boil in a loose-ball scramble with 58 seconds left in the game and the Huskies trailing 74-69, when several players got tangled up in what looked like a rugby scrum. Brockman was accused of shoving an opponent and was seen pleading with an official. He said he was shoved and was spared an ejection. A jump ball was called, and technical fouls were whistled on Brockman and Portland's Smeulders, the latter fouling out on the play."
Honestly Dentmon's blatant shove of Smelder's was probably more deserving than Brockman's but I'm not gonna cry over spilled milk...

Meanwhile, the football team just went 0-for-Husky Stadium for the first time ever.

And you're right: Brandon Roy is a class act. I don't think I've liked a player that much since Clyde the Glide.

The last year has been rough in Seattle... And now the gloomy winter starts....
Let's just lay it out...
Mariners - one of their worst years ever, and they were BAD back in the day
Seahawks - lose 6 WR to injury.... and are just pitiful
Sonics - sigh.... Ok that one is really just flat out sad...
Husky Football - They were bad with Locker and now?? They really should call this year's Wazzu game the Rotten Apple cup... But thats what they get for having the strongest SOS in the country (that schedule maker should be fired)
Husky Basketball - Tee hee....

That's just sad.... BUT

Storm - they are staying AND made the playoffs!!! (insert sarcastic voice)

Our arrogant friends to the north with 10x UP's enrollment:

Mens soccer: UP 3-1
Womens soccer: UP 1-0
Men Cross Country: UP 3rd, UW 5th @ west regional
Mens Basketball: UP 80 - 74

Ok, they got us in women's cross country...dont think we played in volleyball. The UP intramural football champs could probably give the Huskies fball team a run for their money!

Maybe we could win with class, and refrain from those comments. Romar did also coach Brandon Roy, and I would have loved for Roy to be a Pilot.

But, they did lose the same way the Huskies lost Pac-10 games a year ago with free throws and turnovers. So, I wouldn't say this game was a fluke by any stretch of the imagination. Brockman said that Portland did want it more than UW did, and I'd definitely agree with that. We had 4 or 5 guys in double figures. Smeulders played great until leaving the game, and Raivio took advantage of his height advantage over Overton. Campbell was really solid in his debut. Nicely done.

Let's get the Ducks on that schedule. I want to take out a truly arrogant team that recruits real student athletes...the kind who get to have a personal X-Box in their football teams' locker rooms....well not real football...

I loved the way that Smuelders would not back down from the dirty dogs. U dub played basketball like the famously dirty dogs of the Jim Owens football era! Kramer, what can you say about Kramer, he just kept bangin away and would not be intimidated. TJ is the real deal I think we should keep him. Talked to Ethan's parents before the game. Really fine people, even tho the father went to Jesuit. Ethan has really improved. I see depth look out Vikings here we come.

I actually think this team might be better than our 1995-1996 team that went to the tourny, but, the WCC is also stronger than it was back then too...

By the way, does anyone know a place online with all time Pilot records? I wanted to read a little bit about our last team to actually make the tourny 12 years ago. Thanks.

Why is it that any kind of fracass (sp?) in an American sport is called a rugby scrum? Some of these announcers need to watch the sport once in a while. A scrum is 16 men (8 per side) engaged in a very orderly fashion with specific positions and specific laws. If you are going to use a comparison to rugby, you could maybe say a ruck, but even then there is an offside line so players can only be on one side of the ball...Really what they should say in that quote is
"when several players got tangled up in what looked like a bunch of dumb@ssaes playing smear the queer"
