Another USA goal, 2-0
Sounds like Michelle E came in off the bench, worked around a defender that resulted in a corner which resulted in the goal.
Pilots getting mentioned in commentary quite a bit!

Keelin was battling all game. At one point an English player slammed into her from behind and had to leave the game for her efforts.

This kind of commentary was all through matchtraker:

Winters blocks a shot with her head...ooo and she's down again. She's having a busy game.
......
She's had an outstanding game so far.

Apparently Michelle got a post shot an a nice run, and Elli had some nice stops and some good crosses.

You know you have to credit Tony D. for not showing off the full force of the U 20 pilot nation until after group play. Usually the US teams show their hand early and get scouted. Hats off to the young women.

Just finished watching the taped U20 game, with sportscasting in Spanish. Both Keelin and Elli had great games. Although Leroux had two goals, Keelin was absolutely the best player on the field. The Englanders knew it, too, as they kept trying to knock her flat. She was on the ground a lot, but they suffered more!

Great game by the US U20s.

Even though Leroux had the two goals, I thought she looked off her game, especially in the first half. I kept waiting for Michelle to replace her. I kept picturing Michelle on the receiving end of a few of the passes Leroux didn't handle. Oh well. She scored twice. I guess that's why he's the coach and I'm not.

Here's the official recap:
http://ussoccer.com/articles/viewArticle.jsp_11698176.html

Keelin winning Sierra Mist Woman of the Match!! (Do they really have to sponsor that?? It just sounds annoying) Anyway glad to see our ladies performing well on the world's stage, lifting the World Cup trophy would be a nice consolation prize....

I hear you. Stupid Roman Abramovich, now Man City is hurtling down the same path, and I dare say the Man U squad I've supported since I was 10 is slowly heading in the same direction... I never thought I would see the day I actually rooted for the gunners in a match...

Thanks for the update. I always liked Tony DiCicco as a women's national team coach. He did a good job with Milbrett, and he always emphasized technical soccer over individual stardom. I appreciated that...

I just love the experience that the amigas are getting here. Keelin is captain of the U20 team and running the game: Roy Keane or Patrick Viera for those of you with an EPL background. The player who anchors the whole team. The enforcer, the midfield general.

They are in Chile, not England. Maybe Enganche would be a better term. Smile

The video vs England was beautiful! Keelin! Keelin! Keelin!...Can I keep saying her name!? It makes me smile from ear to ear!!

Loved that header! I especially loved that soft lead pass to Sidney....great touch and perfect placement for her teammate!!

"Special-K".....what fantastic player! She's as physical as Megan Rapinoe. Fights for everything. But....that pass also showed me a tender side ....it was as pretty as one of Angie's. Great assist!!

Bravo Keelin....take a bow!!! Bow

Thanks, AP. I'd forgotten what a nutter Roy Keane could be! I don't mean that Keelin is that intense - not even Megan R was that crazy, but she's serious and committed and physical. Perfect for that role.

Someone else posted this pic....I don't know why....but its been haunting me ever since. 2 of the best Pilots going head to head... talk about giving me a complex!? It was hard to emotionally detach myself from this one! Love em both! I can imagine when college teammates face each other at the FIFA level...the ante is upped a little bit more....especially when national pride is at stake...and particularly with Keelin and Sophie. But, that's what makes them great competive players! The game at this level does test the sisterhood, doesn't it?! Twisted Evil

Naw. Ask either one of them. Its just another day of football with the girls. They flat out compete when they step on the field. To them that is just situation normal. Could be a little extra something there for bragging rights but nothing malicious.

Yah...definitely nothing malicious! But there's a little bit of an advantage that's fought for...maybe more so in terms of increased or heighten intensity when confronted by an opponent you know very well.... like a ex-clubmate or sibling.

Okay...where can I get a Pilny, Schmidt or Tsao beer now? I still need to take the edge off that loss to Standford! confused
