Only five turnovers. That is a sign this team is really maturing and getting better. You won't lose many games committing five turnovers and playing the kind of defense we typically do. It doesn't hurt when the threes are going in either..lol.

"The two good players I think the Pilot's need to concentrate on are Daye and Gray."--MesaPilot1.
Yeah, I totally agree. Gray is one of their most underrated players on that team. Daye just has so much length that he can cause a ton of problems to other teams. His play against UConn where he deflected an inbound pass off of the UConn player trying to get the ball inbounds to create a turnover was just ridiculous. I think that TJ is good enough to hopefully negate Pargo's impact on the game, and Heyvfelt is inconsistent and does not always seem to play to his strengths. If Heyvfelt plays to his strengths, he's a load to guard, but, too often he settles for outside shots without banging in the middle or getting involved in transition plays or dunks like he did when Gonzaga was ranked in the top 10.
I think we'll shoot a much higher percentage at home than we did in Spokane, and hopefully Raivio will cause them some matchup problems like he has for most of our opponents this year...

That color commentator was Bill Krueger. He played basketball for Jack Avina on the bluff back in the '70's. He also played baseball (first base), and ended up in the major leagues, as a pitcher. Spent time with the Mariners. Now he works for FSN out of Seattle, doing Mariner post game shows, and some basketball commentary for FSN and I guess for CSN. Good to see an old Pilot doing well.

Did everyone catch the announcement that Jack Avina was in attendance last night? Hopefully that wound can be healed, and he will be a regular in Chiles going forward...

Re: Pilot's beat St. Mary's
I've noticed Coach A. at a few games over the years. Perhaps most often when USD was here, since he coached on that staff after he left the bluff. With the larger crowd, I didn't see him last night, or I'd have greeted him.
That reminds me, with the larger crowd, that meant lines for the men's room, long waits to exit the parking lot, more people grabbing the snacks at the Pilot Club! What an inconvenience!
I assume the 3-pack ticket sale that included SMC and GU boosted the attendance, with GU fans checking out a couple rivals. I'd also hope some local bball fans with no particular allegiance dropped by, enjoyed what they saw and will come again!

This is truly fantastic news. Anything that can be done to get Avina involved in the program again is a plus. Frankly, I think having a Raivio on the team has helped heal that wound a bit.
In addition to helping us win, of course!
