Re: St. Mary's Gameday Link
OK, we can officially talk about next year. I think a key will be Eric Waterford's development. We can not afford to have TJ be the only guy we can trust when the defense cranks it up. Second will be BJ Porter's development; if he can hit that long shot consistently, and counter with his speed and hops at the hoop, he will be a huge weapon.
BTW, no Neidermeyer tonight? Is he injured again? If so, that is obviously why we lost; we lost most of our games while he was hurt.

Re: St. Mary's Gameday Link
Another summer of post development will do us wonders... Our guys gave all they had down low tonight, but to develop a consistent post presence will definitely take us to the next level, and not have to rely so heavily on our 3 point shooting.
(Although, if our posts got better, it would open up the outside even more , there's nothing wrong with that!!)
But yes, the improvement of Waterford and Porter would take us to a whole new level. Another sure hand at PG and another player to attack outside in with Raivio will serve well for not only the next year, but after Nik graduates...

Re: St. Mary's Gameday Link
I think Ethan's injury is a lingering one. Although, I think I may have seen something where he tweaked it at practice on Monday. Either way, you are right, without him, we don't do as well.
I agree that Eric and BJ will be key, but I'm more interested with the development of our inside guys.
I think that Luke can be a huge threat, he seems to have good moves and he is more built than both Robin and Kramer.
Big John, from what I've heard (not seen), is supposed to have great hands and good offensive skill. Maybe until now we have seen freshman nerves, especially since he missed the fall both on the court and just with the team in general. I don't want to rekindle the discussion about what would be a good weight for him, but it'd be nice to see him get to an effective weight and work on that inside game. I think he'll be good down the road.
I still have hopes that Robin will gain back that year of eligibility and be a "JR (RS)" next year. But that may be asking too much. I hope that Kramer and Robin can both put on muscle. I can't see a situation where more muscle on their lean frames can be a bad thing.
Jasonn... I don't know what to think about him. He isn't very effective offensively and I don't think his defense is our best. I haven't seen much instinctual talent in him, but it'd be nice to develop him more, even if just to have when other guys are in foul trouble.
I think Eric is a bright spot for our team's future and I remember someone mentioning before that Nem is a great shooter. Developing our freshman into competitive sophomores will be key next year and beyond.
I'm worried that I've heard nothing about recruiting. I realize that we aren't graduating anyone, but I don't see why we shouldn't be bringing some guys in, especially given our success.
I think that is all for my long-winded shot at next year.

GOOD GAME PILOT'S,TOUGH TO WATCH A LOSS,BUT THE BOY'S GAVE IT ALL THE HAD. Mesa has more comment's but I've liked all those I've read. We gave them all they could handle, and they snuck away at the end.
A great future for the current crop of Pilot's,and soo great for Rev's future recruiting. Eric and B.J. are really coming into their own. Time for Mesa's 12 hr probation.....

Shipstad - With no one graduating, I'm not sure that there are anyone open spots for 2009-10. The key recruiting years will be 2010 and 2011.

Re: St. Mary's Gameday Link
I've heard a few rumors about players for 2010 from what I would consider credible sources... But not enough to really substantiate posting names and whatnot
But you have to rest assured that this years success will definitely help.

It'll be interesting if we are consistently running a class through that has no seniors... What could be the affects of that?

That shouldn't happen if we're recruiting consistently from year to year and planning ahead. I think the current situation is due to the changeover from Holton and his non-existent final recruiting class - not Rev's fault. It;s kind of like Tyro... oh, nevermind...

Re: St. Mary's Gameday Link
I finally looked at the boxscore from this morning's game (yeah, that's what I am calling it). I missed most of the first half...yeah, I fell asleep during the Gonzaga game...so most of my observations are from the second half.
TJ only played 14 minutes, It is tough to win when your, arguably, best player only goes for 14 minutes (especially when his 3rd and 4th fouls were questionable calls). He did play well when he was in though. Waterford was very serviceable as his backup though. I am excited about our 1-2 punch at the point next year.
Lots of turnovers, yes I know that was already mentioned.
Our three point shooting was excellent, 9-12. It would have been nice for Stohl to get open a few more times. We were able to run TJ off screens to hit the ope three, but Stohl just wasn't able to create any space.
I really like having Luke on the court. I can't really put my finger on it though. He doesn't seem to be great at anything, but from what I have seen, he doesn't have any glaring weaknesses. He even brought the ball up the court a few times and looked comfortable at it.
I would love to see the guys get an invite to the NIT or the CBI and get that chance for win number 20. This team really as exceeded all of my expectations this season. I am really looking forward to next season.

Re: St. Mary's Gameday Link
Kramer 10 shot's , most of the Jasonn variety, 3 or 4 rimmed out though. The offense will only get better with John bruising up the inside and "jammin" home misse's by Luke,Robin, and Kramer.
Once again the "Twin tower's" in again. About the only insightful comment made by ESPN guy's last night was we had 25 foul's to give. You better get ready to be "PUNISHED" when you enter the lane. That mean's you Austin Daye or Samhan when facing the Pilot's next year.

Good game Pilots
Good game last night Portland. And I'm not saying that just because we won.
You guys are tough, and wow ...... do you guys ever miss a three ???
What I'd be worried about like us here in Moraga is how your going to keep Reveno.
We gave Bennett a long term deal, and a big raise last year, but the rumors surface every
April.
Love your guard play, and just the FIGHT in your team. Glad to see its turned around, and I think
you guys are clearly in the upper half next year.
Gotta go. Cheer us on against the Zags. I'm hoping regardless of tonight, we have earned our
dancing shoes, but we are clearly a bubble team if we lose tonight.
Congrats on your season so far ..... you are a classy group.
