Ninkasi Total Domination IPA goes well with a TA tailgate. Especially when we got hooked up with a free keg.

New discovery: Snoqualmie Wildcat India Pale Ale...of Snoqulmie Falls Brewing Company. Their porter is also awfully good...similar to Black Butte in quality...

For all you Pliny fans out there (read: Geezer, and a little bit of DTR). How is the Hopfather Double IPA? It is also a Russian River concoction. I just bought a book about homebrewing, and it has the recipe for Hopfather. When I move home I am going to start doing some of my own brewing.
I am hoping to hire Coldsmoke as my Chief Chemist!! Remember that crap we made junior year?
Maybe I can get good enough that I can provide the beer in the 1,000 poster club room...as long as it comes with free admission, of course.

I made a pretty nice pale ale a couple of years back before I retired from brewing, wish I could have shared it with you!

I can't imagine any brew made in a place called "The Swamp" was destined for great success... Haha but let me know when you guys whip up some Wesley Willis Wheat...

Re: List your top 5-10 favorite beers here...
Update on the midwest beer front - Had a Prairie Path Golden Ale from Two Brothers Brewing (West Chicago) last night, and I have to say, it was delicious. A pretty smooth ale that was balanced out pretty nicely with a light hoppiness. I actually think it makes for a great summer "light" beer that still tastes like a real beer with flavor.
Don't get me wrong, I still prefer the monster IPA, but this was tasty.

Yes, I am bringing this thread back.
One, becuase Rochin54 and I shared some wonderful micros last weekend...
and two, I was wondering if anyone has tried the Widmer Drifter. We had it at our beer store yesterday. Figured I'd try it. I really enjoy it for a Pale Ale. Very strong, floral taste, not bland like some pales.

Yeah, the drifter has been all the rage for the last few months. Pretty solid PA, not as crazy floral like the IPA's I usually go for, but definitely a nice one to add to the rotation for sure.
BTW has anyone tried the Well's Banana Bread beer? I'm not really a huge banana person, but the stuff literally tastes like the bread. Haha it isn't exactly cheap (think pliny style pricing), but i think worth checking out if you like trying wild and crazy brews or are a huge nanner bread fan

They should really change that to "it was the water" since it's brewed down just outside LA at a Pabst brewery now...

Maybe a group of us could meet for a Pliny somewhere in Seattle prior to the UP vs. UW women's soccer game here in Seattle. Who is with me?

Man visits 34 Portland Breweries in 1 day: LINK.
Hmmm, DTR was in town recently... was this him? I would be nothing but jealous if it was; this is a day's work I wouldn't mind putting in!

Re: List your top 5-10 favorite beers here...
This is great. Now we have a goal to shoot for, a route plan, and a clear possibility of a new record (just add Hair-of-the-Dog)
Two problems.
I've never split a beer with anyone, and I don't much care to order beers in "Child's Portions"
The good thing is that by my count, I could order Pliny in six of those places.
Maybe more.

I agree that by writing that bit the way they did, the Oregonian is just asking for someone to hit all 35.
This might be more enjoyable to drink a full pint at each location, and make the time frame more like 1 week...

I'm thinking a long weekend of full pints wouldn't be too difficult at all...

The time frame to enjoy 35 pints is, of course, going to be dependent upon the beer consumption prowess of the group... I reckon the PN 1K Club could do some some serious damage in short order...
