Cody Mivshek joins the Pilots

Cody Mivshek has enrolled at the University of Portland and joined the men’s basketball program, head coach Eric Reveno announced today. Mivshek, a 6-foot-2 guard and two-time all-state performer at Fossil Ridge High School in Fort Collins, Colo., spent last season at Philips Exeter Academy (Exeter, N.H.) and was named the prep school’s team MVP.



“Cody is a great fit for our basketball program,” Reveno said. “He is a competitor and will do everything to make himself and his teammates better. Cody is an excellent shooter, can play multiple positions and is also an outstanding student.”



Mivshek was a four-year letterman at Fossil Ridge and was named the Northern Conference Player of the Year as a junior in 2007. He was a three-time All-Northern Conference selection and was a member of the school’s inaugural varsity basketball team as a freshman during the 2004-05 season at the ‘4A’ level. Mivshek led the Sabercats to the State 4A Quarterfinals as a senior and earned second team all-state honors his final two years in the program. He was also named the team MVP his final two years at Fossil Ridge.



Mivshek earned team MVP honors for a Philips Exeter team that finished 14-5 at the Class A level of the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) last season. He tied for the team-high in scoring average at 13 points per game and also contributed five rebounds and three assists per outing.



Portland is coming off of a 19-13 season and the program’s first post-season berth since 1996. The Pilots return 12 players from last year’s roster including four players who earned All-West Coast Conference honors.
