2009 Prospectus Posted
The 2009 Prospectus was posted on PortlandPilots.com. Most significant thing I noticed is Frankie Lopez will not be returning.
Turning Pro? Anyone know?

Re: 2009 Prospectus Posted
Well, that's a bit of a shock, but looking back it shouldn't have been.
He had a good season last year, and this spring against the Timbers he looked like he would fit in quite well at the next level.
Then at the end of June, the Forest Grove paper carried an article on his success at the Timbers u23's.
That should have been a pretty good clue as to his future. I guess the 2x4 wasn't dense enough.
I guess he will follow in the footsteps of a bunch of other Pilots.
Good luck to him, but I wish he had stuck around another year. I think the team is getting better.

McMinnville High School product Frankie Lopez is starring on the soccer pitch and blazing a path for other local players to succeed at the college and professional level

Yah. Too bad. Enjoyed watching him play very much. He was a big part of the offense last year...always a threat! I thought he had a good working chemistry with Collen especially. I thought it would even be Collen...of all the guys from last year's team... who might have pursued a Pro career before Frankie would.

When are the Pilot's going to start winning conference championships? The Pilots need a new head coach.

I was going to ask the same thing about Jerry.....
But you understand that on this side of the river it's a little harder. You have to be a student.

They will start winning when they go to an all black kit. Like the Vikings.VikThunder wrote:When are the Pilot's going to start winning conference championships? The Pilots need a new head coach.
We don't even have an old head coach. We have a director of soccer and a handful of top-notch assistants.

I just think the Pilots should be a dominating side in the WCC. Maybe part of the issue is that there is a "Director of Soccer" and not a head coach.

They should be dominating, but it proves difficult when the majority of our decent players defect for the promise of money and all the other perks that come with European professional soccer after only a couple years with the program... I hardly think the coaching structure has anything to do with it...
