Kelsey Davis Empty Kelsey Davis

Post by Harry Redknapp Sun Nov 29, 2009 7:29 pm

What a great player Kelsey has been for the Pilots! She chose to transfer to UP and had to sit out a year after she arrived. Then she has become one of the alltime fan favorites.

She is an excellent keeper. She has made some acrobatic saves and she is fearless at the feet of the opposition. This season she did not have much to do in many games - but she was always ready if and when action came her way.

I think the thing that we will all miss the most, though, is her non-stop full-volume guidance/direction/instructions. It is a surprise to most folks to hear Kesley talk off the field: she is relatively quiet and soft-spoken! But on the filed she has a voice like none other.

Aside from the obvious disappointment of losing to UCLA, it is very sad to have seen KD play as a Pilot for the last time.

She has been a team leader and very committed to community service, too.

I'm sure that Hailee or one of the incomeing freshamn will step up, but it will be hard not to think of who is not there come the next game.

as garrett said of kelsey, she is the best keep we have ever had on the bluff. i have butted heads with a few here on the nation regarding the best keeps. the opinion seems to be, angela harrison, cori alexander, an of course kelsey in no particular order.
personally, prior to kelsey, cheryl loveless was my favorite. but after watching kelsey's career here, i can say without a doubt, that there has never been a keep here that has approached kelsey's excellence!!
while i am sure that evveryone, both the team an us fans will miss kelsey immensively, im not counting on incoming frosh to carry this team. i'm looking towards what kelsey has taught our very shy an demurr red-shirt soph keep hailee!!

we just need to rally around Hailee now and keep this Pilot spirit/love for our goalie alive (and love every time Kelsey visits!)

Mine too. But Kelsey has got to be my favorite Pilot of all time in any sport.

I actually won't mind having a more quiet keeper -- as long as the defense and keeper communicate. The next keeper can let the opponent's zero speak to her worth. Come spring and the practice scrimmages, we'll see what Hailee has been learning from watching and practicing and working alongside Kelsey.

More than once I've quipped that Kelsey might enjoy the game a bit more with a lounge chair and an umbrella drink. However, all kidding aside, she's been formidable when the ball ends up on the Pilot side of midfield and it's sad to see her go. In my mind, Cori and Kelsey tie for favorite keeper in my (admittedly) few years on the bluff.

My vote dates back to the 90's and Erin Fahey. Of course I'm bias as she was one of my coaches, including Garrett while attending Pilot soccer camps.
