FYP. There are students who are leading by example, going to support as many Pilot teams as possible at as many events as they can make. You can only hope other students recognize it.ShipstadPilot11 wrote: DJ, you aren't allowed to apologize for the students' section's lack of inspiration. You are probably the single best and most dedicatedbballPilot fan on campus.
I've been to all the men's games this year and at this point, there are students scattered throughout the section all the way to the top. The section is by no means packed but just eyeballing it Stonehouse's numbers sound reasonable. After the people standing in the first couple rows the rest of them just don't seem that into the game. I actually thought the crowd as a whole was pretty dead last night. I figured it might be a combination of a late tip-off, a weeknight and an opponent at the bottom of the conference.

I'll see your game highlights and raise you game photos:
http://www.sportspagemagazine.com/content/bb/mc-bb/g-mc-bb/portland-70-vs-san-diego-56.shtml?38428#0
And, on the lines of "WE PLAY HARDER" - USF hired the UP band to play for them...as Stony, PPT, and I discussed at the half last night, I'm really, REALLY tempted to make "UP Pep Band - We Play Harder" shirts for the tournament band people.

Re: USD @ UP, Thursday 8pm
I really ENJOY the way the direction the way this thread is going.....Its positive .
The general direction of the thread is about solutions....I know most of you guys probably think yeah well it's Mesa squawkin' "he is usually the one who starts the sh@t and keeps it up until it dillutes itself down to a sarcastic insult match". I believe maybe LW the AD ought to recomend to the President that beside solely academic standards incoming students should be Required to have some "pep club" , "athletic club" background like was mentioned before. Now obviously, not every kid is going to want to do this. Fine!!! Just make it a highly valuable way of scoring points with the admissions dept at UP to get in to school on the Bluff. If your other assets...grades,sports, or other skills or so valuable no sweat, one doesnt have anything to worry about. However, if your on the border line head on down to another school unless your willing to show some school spirit because the college experience is just as much about growing up SOCIALLY and learning how to play well with others. (Better that kid get admonished by LW than the Portland PD and end up face down in the dirt with some taser darts in his back , right?)If he were my kid I would have been on the first plane to PDX to have a little "one on one" chat with my son, lol. Like" welcome home, how do you like your old bedroom...friends that still work at the Pizza Hut..and Community College son". Theres one benee' though you still get to take out the trash, wash your Mothers car, and rake the desert landscaping once a week, lol.
ITS GAMEDAY- Gore the Gaels!!! (ok,so thats a little radical but I'm over 25 I get a pass)

The thing that bugs me is that just yelling profanities at a player is the "easy" way out... there are much more effective things to yell, if you do a little homework, are creative and know what to say & when to say it. For example, the infamous "We play Harder" chant, or reminding the subject player about their poor choice in hairstyle, or the airball that they recent had, the missed freethrows, lazy defense, etc. That's how you get in their heads. Not by yelling random profanities.
Or if a particular player has left a very prestigious Big East program and landed in the Big West (I think that's the conference) and still has aspirations of playing in the National Basketball Association and wears the appropriate socks for that professional organization. He is fair game.
Also, while watching this game I thought about some words that were written about the immortal Casey Frandsen in the Blue Ribbon college basketball preview, "He's not a shooter, he's not a slasher, he's a scorer." Maybe that is what we have in Jared Stohl and his contracted shooting range.

SS11,
Its 5 am Sat here, were not in Italy anymore, lol. Some of us work M-F from 4am-1pm thats why I tell you know who to stay in school and get his degree like basketballhead and his other older brother the PHD. Then he to can work and live a normal Nine to Five life like most college degreed individuals...ha,ha..
BTW did that adult refreshment establishment that Stoney and Nut took me to in PDX just close. Time for you to stop chanting SS11 and take a little nappypoo before the game tonight so I can cheer vicariously through you at the Chiles.
Whenever some sourpuss in college said lets wait until afternoon to start partying I would promptly remind them " its Noon somewhere right now, lets get it on...."

In Mr. Bland's defense (and my own since I own a pair as well), NBA socks are very comfortable and cushy... And as Sir. Charles says I really do "need 'em for my footsies"...

I have to pull back the curtain here, but in case you haven't noticed, chanting tends to become more of a call and response thing, so any suggestions that are easy and repeatable are strongly encouraged!
Any classic chants you guys want to hear these last few weeks or in VEGAS?
As long as they're creative and simple enough to be repeated quickly, others should catch on...
