Real Time RPI-- What should be the team goal?
Do you think Rev has set a team goal to try to finish in the top 64? I noticed this morning that we're currently at #78 (as of 2/17). I'd love to see us finish in the top 64. Our strength of schedule is almost exactly the same as St. Mary's at this point...

Re: Real Time RPI-- What should be the team goal?
With the rest of our schedule having teams being higher than 200 in the RPI that's pretty much impossible, even if we win out, our RPI won't really be effected positively because of the lower quality opponents.
The only way we could get lower is by beating St Mary's and Gonzaga in Vegas, at which point the RPI would be pretty much irrelevant...

Re: Real Time RPI-- What should be the team goal?
Based on Rev's reaction to being ranked #25 last fall I wonder if he even pays attention to RPI or has a goal for it.
DTR is right though, our RPI probably won't go up significantly and might not go up at all over the next two weeks.

RPI
At this point it is more about wins than worrying about our rating--if we win, the beauty pageant administrators may take some notice. We are, however, a small school from a small conference with mixed success. Maybe we get into the NIT if we can't beat Gonzaga in the tourney. It is nice to discuss the possibility of post season play, even if our odds are not so great. It is also nice to believe the coach and his staff are capable of getting us there, if not this year then . . .in the not too distant future.

Re: Real Time RPI-- What should be the team goal?
I noticed the other day when I rewatched the St. Mary's game that they said we did not have any quality wins when they showed our resume for post season play. That was also only a couple minutes after they talked about our trouncing of UCLA and beating a team that has been consistently ranked around the top 20.
I know the UCLA trouncing was irrelevant but I love talking about it.

you shouldn't bring up the trouncing of UCLA constantly, even though there might be satisfaction in it.
We may trounce them next time, too.
(Hey, this is kind of fun)

I don't think he has set any goals with regards to RPI. The only thing you can do to affect (effect?) your RPI is win. I'm sure he wants to win every game left on the schedule, but that is the only thing that matters.
