Re: Final spring game?
Just type Nike campus or Nike World Campus in Google maps for directions to the campus.
I find it easiest to come in off Walker road and turn right at the inner ring road. (Bowerman road?)
They will play on one of the two fields where it says "Nike" on this map. (Ronaldo field)
The big white roofed Building to the upper left of the fields is the Mia Hamm Building. Park in the lot near there. Don't bother trying to park in the first row. those are assigned, though I was tempted to park in Illie Nastazie's spot last time (I figured he wouldn't be at the game).
Then wander through the campus until you see the field. If you cross a stream, you are lost.

Re: Final spring game?
My source at Nike says this: "I would suggest the main entrance off of Walker just west of Murray. The guard in the bunker should be able to direct them to the closest parking."

The word "bunker" always makes me nervous.
They should call it the courtesy desk.

The guard in the bunker is there to protect SUVs from golf club damage.

Re: Final spring game?
Has anybody seen a u23 roster list with numbers?
It would be nice to know who we are looking at. Obviously, we will know some, but we haven't seen a lot of these players.

Re: Final spring game?
Pilots lost 2-1 with the U23's getting the winning goal late in the 2nd half. The Pilots more than held their own, but couldn't put the ball in the back of the net. They had some good chances in the 2nd half but couldn't finish with a goal.

Re: Final spring game?
The u23's scored on two good individual moves by ? and ? (they didn't wear numbers)
UP kept the u23's on their heels for a long stretch in the second half, including two pipe shots.
Players of the game - Elli was matched up with Christen Press and I think won every challenge and was very dangerous coming forward. She was the best player on the field today, I thought.
Ellen Parker played parts of both halves and showed very good vision, including the tru ball that lead to the UP score.
Jess played some at attacking mid and was also dangerous..
Taylor has some serious jets she showed, winning alot of corners for UP, Kendal was just as good on the other side.
Keelin was Keelin, and was really strong in the middle.
Michelle Olivier could play keeper at most D1 programs. She made a couple of great stops.
The forwards tracking back a lot kept the u23's off balance and created some opportunities.
The best news of the day was that Cloee played the whole game and was dominant in the back. That's pretty encouraging for the fall season.

Re: Final spring game?
Last goal for U23 was Danielle Toney from Penn State. She has improved her finishing over the last year.

yeah, that was a great shot into the upper corner. did she graduate?
The first one was the forward capitalizing on a defensive error. Otherwise, the offensive attempts from the u23's were pretty mixed in quality. There was a lot of dump and run.

Re: Final spring game?
The first goal by the u23's was probably Sarah Hagen (Wisconsin-Milwaukee) as she is listed in her college bio as being 5'-11" and was the only player out there who would have fit that description.

Re: Final spring game?
Interesting to note who did NOT play; Sophie, Cassie, Kendra, Hallie;
Younger (less experienced) players are stepping up quite nicely. I thought Emma played well as she has the last several games.
A well played even game with u-23 scoring on a couple longer thru balls. SP

Re: Final spring game?
Sunday was an excellent day to see the Pilots stand up to the college all-stars. Maybe some of the UP players want to make a statement that they can play at national team level (even though Coach Irwin already knows they can)! UP never looked intimidated or impressed by the opponent, tho the U-23 speed did catch the defense off-balance on both scores. UP has some excellent chances in addition to a nice goal by Hallie. Keelin made a great header off a corner kick that was saved at the post by a defender. Ellen blasted one over the crossbar after a nice series of set-up passes by teammates. Taylor showed she is the real deal on offense by working her way around the backs for crosses or to force corners. It looked to me that Keelin played attacking mid for a while with Jessica at defensive mid when Ellen was out. Sarah Jackman also came in, with Elinor P., late in the game, although they got few touches. Playing games like this against high-quality teams in spring will serve to harden the Pilots for whatever comes in fall.
Kendra, Hailee, Kassie and Molly were on the bench though they did not play. Kassie will be ready for fall ball, she says.
Is it August yet?
