USD won today, too, beating the Zags.

It ain't often I root for the Zags to win something....

Today's game is in progress. The Pilots spotted the Waves a 1-run lead in the bottom of the third, but tied it in the top of the fourth. It stayed 1-1 until the top of the 7th, when Mardesich homered to lead off, and the Pilots scored twice more that inning thanks to some not-so-stellar fielding by the Waves.

As I write this, the first five Pilots have reached safely in the top of the 8th. The Pilots have the bases loaded with no outs and a 6-1 lead.

Go Pilots!

Pilots win 8-4.

Help from the Zags is unlikely, however. They're trailing USD 14-5 in the 8th inning.

Pilots sweep the Waves! Today's game was 5-2.

If I'm counting right, we're now 11-1 in league, with our next league game against USD in a couple of weeks.

USD is in the process of sweeping Gonzaga, unless the Zags can rally back from a 17-7 deficit in the 9th innning.

AMAZING!!!

Heading into this series, Portland had won 8 games overall against Pepperdine. Ever. 8-52.

So to sweep them on the road... truly remarkable. What a wonderful season for the Pilots!

Could we be ranked next week? I think it's possible. As impressive as it was for our basketball team to hit the Top 25 this year, for baseball to do it??? Absolutely unreal.

Congratulations to the Pilot Baseball team. I've been following UP sports since 1980, and, up to this point, this is certainly among the top two or three baseball teams in the last few decades. It's really been impressive what they've done.
