This is the Internet age. You can actually look this stuff up. I just typed " flying time LAX Sidney" and got this:

http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_long_is_the_flight_from_Los_Angeles_to_Sydney

Which gives 14:30 to 13:20 hrs.

And, according to them, the shortest trip from PDX is 20:57 on United with a connecting flight.

14 hours sounds more Europe-ish...

Wow, lots of speculation. Does UP pay for direct flights? Or could he be within the continental US with layovers?

I don't think we necessarily need to go to Australia to compete with SMU either. There are plenty of good student athletes at home in the northwest. Though diversity is always nice. Smile

coach rev, taking a flight that takes 28 hrs. round trip, you would have to believe that the player was better than average and that you would be able to sign him

OK, OK. Rumor is 2 guys are being looked at. I can only remember the first name, Anthony Drmic. He played for the Australian U19 team and went to the AIS. From everything i've heard this kid is pretty good. You can youtube his name and a couple of highlight vids come up. I honestly can't remember the other name. It was a hard one to remember. But if you guys do some research on Anthony Drmic i'm pretty sure some good stuff will turn up.

Its been a while since i watched any junior basketball back home so i'm sorry i cant give any more info but from everything i've heard about him, things are good. I'll ask around a little more and let you guys know more about him.

Thanks for the Post and Info Cjacks...you saved much board and personal speculation.....has anybody signed on with Scout.com....or is Mesa going to have to renew his supscription and get the wisdom of Greg Hicks their west coast talent evaluator......I tell you this guy is good....I saw the big mucky, muck up on the Zag board give him big time credit for his accuracy on evals, and college commitments about 6 months ago (when I still read that site, lol). Greg Hicks is the man in the know, I followed him all throughout the 2006-2007 season and he is what the West Coast HS star players and their parents follow too. Plus the guys down to earth and answers your e mails Publicly (on Scout.com) or privately(if you prefer) whenever you e mail him. Takes a couple weeks to get back to you because he travels so much following the AAU/club circuit and HS bb throughout the west coast so he doesnt answer immediately....maybe now with smartphones he does now reply sooner, who know's,lol.

Thanks CJack--took suggestion and looked Drmic up on YouTube. From his highlight film, it looks like you might want your recruiting budget to be expended on a flight to Australia. Hope we have a realistic chance of bringing him aboard.

He appears to handle the ball exceptionally well, to be an excellent passer and to be quite the three point shooter, but then this is a highlight video.

His game looks alot like the kid with the big mouthpiece(Dellavadova) from St Mary's who plays alongside Mickey. Except he's taller, mesa drooling..... Smile wow , that would be a score to "steal" one away from the Gaels. If any coaching staff can do it Rev and his consistent , solid staff can!!! fingers crossed Rolling Eyes . Thanks for the video wrv.Keep up that great recruiting Rev!!!

A taller Dellavadova would be OK with me. I just hope all Aussie's don't do the stupid mouthpiece thing...

I don't like the sound of this:
Recruits that count "offers" early in the process often accept the offer they think is the "biggest" offer. No understanding of fit.
From Rev's twitter page. I wonder if it is random reflection, or if someone he really wanted chose another direction? That's one that we'll never know for sure.

Anthony Drmic and Igor Hadziomerovic are two wings players that played a major role for the Australian U18 team in Mannheim. Both are members of the AIS (Australian Institute of Sports) for the last years and have European roots (Drmic is born in Australia of Croatian parents, Hadziomerovic has a Bosnian father and a Serbian mother). Hadziomerovic played mainly a role as three point shooter while Drmic is a slasher on the SF position that can also hit the three point shot. Both are tremendous fighters and were major factors also on defense.

I think we have four scholarships to offer. Based on other posts on the forum, we have received two commitments already, Carr and Cason. So, do we offer both Aussie young men or the big from California, Brendon Keane? Hmmn . . .

Noticed that Brendan Keane according to Scouts, has committed to No. Colo
Wonder if Pilots had offered him. I read somewhere that someone had noted they thought he had reached the top of his ability already ?

Well, another potential recruit will play elsewhere. Guess we'll need to wait and see who Reveno lands, perhaps in the spring.
