A Little Trip Down Memory Lane...
I have been collecting all sorts of archival photos the past week or two, for a super-secret project that is totally going to be the most amazing thing ever. Or, at the very least, it will provide something fun for the UP Facebook page.
Anyway, I just found a nice collection of old athletics photos. Most of them are from football and stuff like that, but there were a few nice mid-90s soccer team shots I thought you might enjoy.
The real test... how many players can you name?

I don't know why you spent all that time with Photoshop, but those pictures are clearly fake.
I mean, COME ON! Those pictures of Bill Irwin were clearly taken of him 40 years ago and then pasted in...

Re: A Little Trip Down Memory Lane...
OK, I'll start with the first photo that's the 1995 team that played the title game. Look at how small the trees are!
Front row: Frenchie, Nicole Ppeifer, Melissa "The Hammer" Ribaudo, Kim Engesser, Sarah Charles, Stephanie O'Neil?
Second row: Kristen "Eater" Eaton, Shannon, Erin Fahey, Jody Dutra, Holly Pierce, Tia Sharpe.
Back row: Kim Stiles, Wynne Mackintosh, Maria Shireman, Jenna Johnson, Justi,
The question I always asked myself about that team is who the #2 keeper was. Any ideas? I think it was Wynne.
The second team is just a bit harder for me. Maybe I'm getting senile. Maybe someone else can try first.
Shannon and Frenchie were both on campus yesterday, BTW.

I got 'em all except Stephanie O'Neil? Good call.Geezaldinho wrote:OK, I'll start with the first photo that's the 1995 team that played the title game.
Yes, it was Wynne. The reason I know is that I was chatting with her on the sidelines during a men's game, and I happened to ask her "Who is the second-string keeper?". She replied, somewhat sheepishly, "Me". She had played some keeper in middle school or something. The question I always asked myself about that team is who the #2 keeper was. Any ideas? The second team (1998), of beat-Notre-Dame-in-quarterfinals and four-overtime-in-semifinals-against-UNC fame (we lost on less than a minute before PKs):

- Back row: Kristen Eaton, Brooke O'Hanley, Anna Del Bosque, Kylee Barton, Michelle French, Cheryl Loveless, Angela Harrison, Jenna Johnson, Kim Stiles, Heather Thibedeau, Tia Sharpe, Lindsey Smart.
- Front row: Tara Koleski, Regina Holan, Paradiz (I could never remember or pronounce her last name--I want to say Arzidan), Vanessa Talbot.

Re: A Little Trip Down Memory Lane...
I figure Matty Wizz would have gotten at least one.
I couldn't tell if that was Brooke or Erin Goodling. I'm starting to forget what they looked like. There were actually a couple more players on that team not in the picture. I think that was a year that we had so many injuries that Clive recruited some walkons from the club team. a couple played some minutes, too.
I figured Wynne because of her KamiKaze personality on the pitch. Clive had an epiphany in 1995 and got two good keepers the next
I think it was Pardis Ariazand, but don't hold me to it.
Those were both great teams to watch. TONS of personality.

Re: A Little Trip Down Memory Lane...
That 1998 team was one of the years when Angela Harrison played the field.
The first Geezer question of the year:
Can anyone tell me her goals and assists record playing the field?

It was Brooke.Geezaldinho wrote:I couldn't tell if that was Brooke or Erin Goodling.
Erin didn't come until the next year. She wore #4 (vacated by Jenna Johnson), and was part of a large class that included another Erin (Misaki, one of my favorite players of all time), Betsy Barr, Lauren Orlandos, Valerie Fletcher and Emily Patterson. Lisa Casagrande may have also come that year, along with a player from the Finnish (?) national team that only lasted one year (Suzanna ???). Three years later, many of these players, as seniors, were on the field when the Moore-to-Sinclair connection gave the Pilots their first national championship.

Re: A Little Trip Down Memory Lane...
Susanna Heikari.
Great player. If she had stayed, she would have teamed up with Christine for two years. Imagine what that would have been like. I can't remember the second Finnish player's name, because she left before the season when Susanna left for Finland homesick.
!999 when those players showed up was the only year since 1992 that UP didn't make the tournament. most of those years we made the College Cup.
Santa Clara beat us 8-0 and we thought the party was over.
Boy, were we wrong.

Re: A Little Trip Down Memory Lane...
Another trivia question (and I don't know the complete answer). Who were the members of the legendary '76ers? (and I don't mean basketball Hahaha...)
