Road trip!
UP is trying to get a bus organized for the U of O game. They need responses by August 12, according to the emails I just received.
For just $25 you get a round trip to Eugene for the August 22 game. The buss leaves at 4 PM from the Chiles Center and returns after the game
RSVP to Beth Connell at connell@up.edu or call at 503-943-7245.
Plenty of room on the bus for the cowbells.

Re: Road trip!
I hate to miss a good bus ride, but alas will be deep in the Cascades. I will have to wait a few days to learn the final score (which will be Pilots several, Ducks fewer).

Re: Road trip!
I would seriously consider going if I hadn't filled my schedule already:
-Wake up
-TA tailgate
-Jump, clap, and sing for victory
-PTFC takes three points (WGWTL)
-Postgame relaxation
Sounds like it would be fun if slightly more...ah...tranquil than the TA trip last month, but remember the rule about what happens on a bus trip: pics or it didn't happen.

Re: Road trip!
Too many things going on that day to take the bus, but we'll be driving down ourselves. Hope the bus trip happens, though. It will be nice to have a large contingent! Pape Field is always packed when Portland comes to town. Would be nice to be the smaller but louder bunch!

The only person who can update @portlandpilots is whoever created that feed. Will any of you at the game be willing to update via twitter? Maybe someone would create a pilotnation twitter account and we could have a group of tweeters that can access it?

Re: Road trip!
Just got an email
The bus is going!
There are apparently some seats left, so if you want to be part of the party, sign up with Beth Connell.
I'm sure you could probably do it tomorrow at the BBQ.
The bus leavesFriday Saturday at 4 PM sharp. don't be late.
There will be no stops in Minneapolis.

Re: Road trip!
Isn't the game Saturday....
If the bus leaves Friday @ 4 you all must be stopping for a few Pliny's on the way or are you really going through Minneapolis but aren't telling anyone.
If it's Pliny's wishing I was riding the bus.

You may be joking Fan, but if there was a stop in Minny I actually would be there waiting.

Re: Road trip!
Matty, maybe we should charter our own bus, starting in Syracuse, picking up UP fans along the way. Wouldn't need no stupid Pliny, though - we'd get the REAL stuff in Milwaukee.

Blatz?
FYI, the Widmer brewery here in town was started in the old Old Heidelberg Brewery building, which was a Blatz label.
You can still see the Old Heidelberg sign on the North side of the building as you drive South on Interstate.
My dad worked in the Blatz brewery during the depression. Blatz, Schlitz, Pabts - Great names there, but the beer isn't so good anymore.
Besides, the NW had Blitz. Nobody ever said "lets go get Pabsted"

We did, however, say "Let's go get Schmidt-faced"....

Ha ha. well, in Milwaukee they would more likely have said "let's go get Schlitz-faced", though I noticed Schmidt's is now brewed in Milwaukee By Pabst, that famous South African Brewer.
So are Blatz and Schlitz (and Miller), for that matter.
BTW, there are still a couple seats left on the bus. a couple more folks signed up it looks like.
