onetouchfutbol wrote:Thanks NorCalCoug and welcome. Good luck in trying to get a #1 seed come tourney time. With that schedule and your high RPI rating, BYU is pretty deserving... If you don't get a #1, it will likely be a #2...
I'd say this is a good enough excuse to knock them down to a 2 (And is a BIG blow to the next couple years as well): http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/news/story?id=6172760
(Half the threads on this board probably violate the honor code in some way, shape or form...)
The Honor Code for reference:
• Be honest
• Live a chaste and virtuous life
• Obey the law and all campus policies
• Use clean language
• Respect others
• Abstain from alcoholic beverages, tobacco, tea, coffee and substance abuse
• Participate regularly in church services
• Observe the Dress and Grooming Standards
• Encourage others in their commitment to comply with the Honor Code
I really hope he didn't get busted swearing after sipping a burning hot latte....

BYU is going to be a big boost to the conference, and not just in Basketball. I think you will find it will be good for BYU also.
Looking forward to it.

I think they had a running back get dismissed a few years ago on similar grounds. Gotta marry 'em first guys, then you're in the clear.

Yeah seriously. It seems like a minor miracle that more students don't get caught disobeying the "Honor Code." During my freshman year, I probably broke about 5 of those in a week. I drank some coffee to stay alert and make class on time. I had my weekend beer to reduce stress at the end of the week, and I broke a campus policy (intervisitation) and had to give blood... Then, there's the sporadic cussing of college life... The question for me and many posters would be: which parts of the honor code have I not broken yet? And how entertaining would it be to break those?

Sounds like the opposite of my Vegas plans.

Re: BYUtv to Broadcast WCC Tourney Games
As silly as these rules appear to be, I give BYU credit for sticking with policy and punishing a guy even when their team needs him. This is basically the exact opposite approach that every other school in the country takes when faced with disciplining athletes- give them a long leash and make sure they play.
Somehow, I doubt this decision was made because he missed church, drank Pepsi, or didn't respect someone. The ambiguity of that code, combined with a subjective judge could nail just about anyone. As much as I like to make fun, I know that a UP athlete caught having sex could very well be asked to leave. It has happened.

Re: BYUtv to Broadcast WCC Tourney Games
It may be that for you, but this thread is technically about the WCC games on BYUtv, and people want to know the schedule. Furthermore I'm an alum of BYU's sister school BYU-Idaho, so I'd rather people actually talk about the topic of the forum rather than the honor code violation, especially since BYU will still have 3-5 games before the NCAA Tourney to solidify how good they are without Charles Davies, including a potential third match against San Diego State. Hopefully UNLV stays right where they are, as the #3 seed, because I'd much rather the Cougs face Colorado State in the semi's than UNLV on their home court when BYU barely beat them this year in Vegas for the first time in 5 or 6 seasons.up7587 wrote:bigdan11, pay attention! this thread has evolved to honor codes and posses. Re: BYUtv to Broadcast WCC Tourney Games
Looks like I was right about BYU being a one man team.....but that one man was Davies!
Me too. Without Davies, Ogide is going to tee off. Sweet.

Re: BYUtv to Broadcast WCC Tourney Games
Watched a little bit of the women's game on BYUtv and it looked damn good! Impressed with the broadcast quality, was a little unsure of how it would look but it's just fine.
