Timbers- Galaxy
Timbers shocking the Galaxy in the first half 2-0.
The league leaders are sleepwalking.... Must be the heat.
Now the Timbers have to figure out how to hold them off in the second. three strikers for the Galaxy.

Bruner on a header off a cross at around 70'.
3-0 Timbers.
Timbers might just pull this off.

Re: Timbers- Galaxy
And they do.
The stars were not in alignment for the Galaxy. Big stars nova'd ( no va Is Spanish for "doesn't go").
I should be a sports writer....
(coulda gone with the "taking 'em to the woodshed" theme)

Foreign language and astronomy lessons come free.
As it turns out, the O and the Timbers site did use the woodshed theme.
Now you know why the Chevy Nova didn't do so well in Latin America......

I remember learning about the Chevy Nova in a Spanish class years ago. I thought it was the funniest mistake I had ever seen from a big car company. They should come out with the car in the US that's called the "lemon," but I think that title should go to Hummer.
Anyway, it was a great game by the Timbers. They really controlled the ball quite well and shut down Beckham's passes to the inside. Troy Perkin's best save was a little ball that rolled into the box. I hope the Timbers can learn from this game and put those tactics to use in their future games. It's a long climb into playoff contention after all...

Before the game, my buddy and I made a quick assessment of the Timbers' chances and predicted that we would suffer another loss.
"On the other hand," my amigo offered, "this game is like playing roulette: the odds are heavily against us; but if we win, it will be massive!"
Wonderful to be there for a great win. The Timbers finally put it all together for 90 minutes. Awesome fan environment, too.

I'd blame the field dimensions or the artificial playing surface, but Bruce Arena already did that.
Fantastic night. The atmosphere was matched only by the opener against Chicago. On to Santa Clara.

He and Landon both also blamed the Salary cap
I know how they could solve that issue....
Too bad it wasn't raining.

Re: Timbers- Galaxy
I'd say they would have blamed noxious two cycle engine fumes parading about the stadium, but I can't say that would be any worse than good ol LA smog...

If they didn't like the fumes they shouldn't have allowed so many goals.DaTruRochin wrote:I'd say they would have blamed noxious two cycle engine fumes parading about the stadium, but I can't say that would be any worse than good ol LA smog...
