Re: Pilots against Ewe Dub
FAU and Georgia State both gave UW some issues. Hopefully we can hand them a loss.
Also notice that FAU had more total field goals and more 3-pointers. UW won it at the line (on only 68.6% shooting).

Re: Pilots against Ewe Dub
It looks to me like the Fuskies won on the basis of great free throw defense.
Coach Jarvis needs to draw up some plays for that.

just looked at Pomeroy
UW got two wins this season. Today they went from 48 to 45
We beat the same two teams, nothing different. We went from 108 to 120

It's all about those big schools I guess (like the BC$). Did UW beat them more handily than we did?

Re: Pilots against Ewe Dub
Yeah today's result must have been it. We beat FAU by 5, UW beat 'em by 6.

Re: Pilots against Ewe Dub
At beginning of the season (when everyone was 0-0) we were ranked 130 and UW was ranked 40. After the FAU game we moved up to 126, and after the Georgia State game we are at 120.

We found it's a pretty quick drive, AND tickets are available. Our guys need your vocal support.

Things the Huskies are concerned about:
From the Seattle Times: LINK
Something seems to be missing.Plenty of questions for the Huskies following their 77-71 victory that felt like a defeat during post-game interviews with players.
--- Why didn't Washington go to greater lengths to exploit its size advantage over the smaller Florida Atlantic?
--- What attributed to UW's 38.1 percent shooting?
--- Will the Huskies continue to struggle at the free throw line where it shot 68.6 percent (24 of 35)?
--- Is C.J. Wilcox Washington's best player?
--- Will the real Darnell Gant please stand up?
--- After a promising debut, why did freshman Tony Wroten Jr. struggle in his second game?
--- Can UW play a game like this next Sunday at Saint Louis and win a game?

Let's hope that tonight they think their next game is St. Louis.

Re: Pilots against Ewe Dub
First half is almost over and I am noticing that we are missing open jump shots and that we have missed 5 free throws already. That is where we need to make improvement if we want to compete with the best.

Huskies killing it from beyond the arc, and we are not contesting them.

Down 20 at half, 43 - 23, after trailing by 11+/- most of the half.

This is what we like to refer to as a teaching moment at UP, right?

Re: Pilots against Ewe Dub
11 - 2 Husky run to end the 1st half, followed by a 14 - 3 run to start the 2nd half. That's gonna leave a mark.

Rebuilding year... Get beaten (being nice) by UW and UK, but play well the rest of the season? I will take that.

Re: Pilots against Ewe Dub
I am concerned that if UK puts their mind to it, the Pilots may never get across the half court line in that game. But then, I am not known as an optimist.RipCityPilot wrote:Rebuilding year... Get beaten (being nice) by UW and UK, but play well the rest of the season? I will take that.

Huskies Hand Pilots First Loss of the Season
SEATTLE, Wash. --- The Portland Pilots dropped the final game of the World Vision Classic to the host Washington Huskies, 93-63, Monday night at Alaska Airlines Arena. Sophomore point guard Tim Douglas led the Pilots with 17 points, while sophomore forward Ryan Nicholas just missed his second double-double of the tournament with nine points and 10 rebounds. Senior guard Nemanja Mitrovic was named to the all-tournament team.
The Huskies (3-0) shot a blistering 55 percent from the field and made 12-of-20 from three-point range. The Pilots struggled from the field at 34 percent and were just 4-of-19 from beyond the arc.
Portland was able to gain a 43-38 rebounding advantage, leading to a 17-9 margin in second chance points.
The Huskies closed the first half with an 11-2 run, including a pair of threes by Terrance Ross in the final minute, to take a commanding 43-23 lead at the break. Ross finished with a game-high 24 points, including 6-for-8 from three-point range.
Washington led by as much as 31 points midway through the second half, but Portland used a 9-0 run sparked by seven straight points from Douglas to cut into the deficit. But the Huskies continue to make shots down the stretch to pull away.
Six Huskies reached double figures, including tournament MVP C.J. Wilcox with 17 points.
The Pilots will return to the Chiles Center for their 2011-12 home-opener against the Washington State Cougars on Sunday. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. and tickets are still available through the Pilot Box Office, ticketmaster.com, and all Ticketmaster outlets.
World Vision Classic All-Tournament Team
C.J. Wilson, Washington (MVP)
Nemanja Mitrovic, Portland
Abdul Gaddy, Washington
Terrance Ross, Washington
Eric Buckner, Georgia State
Greg Gantt, Florida Atlantic

Understatement of the year
The Florida Atlantic and Georgia State games showed us how how far our program has come. Those are games we wouldn't have won before the Reveno era. Certainly not with the number of freshman and sophomores we have this year.
The Washington game showed us how far we still have to go. Rev is doing a great job building a program, but still has a ways to go.
