And now it's official. Blackwell, one of six USF players who is transferring, is going to UW. He has to sit out the coming season.

I've reported on other USF and WCC players under the thread "Zags Player to Transfer" in the West Coast Conference section, and will continue to post there as I hear of transfers involving the WCC.NoPoNeighbor wrote:And now it's official. How many good players have we lost over the years to PSU?

So, does he have to sit out a year or not? Good luck to him across town. If you are that big of a fan you will probably get to see him in the Chiles Center again next year or the year after!

I took a look at PSU's guard situation in the Tim Douglas thread, working on the assumption he does have to sit.

I saw right after I posted that last one. Patience, RCP, patience. Thanks PPT.

Bad deal. If he does well for a rival, it will be rubbing salt in a wound. If he does not do well, we have to see the failures of a kid we all liked.
My advice, don't take any trips to Mexico with a new teammate.

Well if you are talking about Dominguez... It wasn't so much as losing a player, as eliminating a player who was an academic liability. Tim is a completely different story in that regard.

Re: Did someone say today is first day spring signing period?
Maybe it is just my perception but I find it odd that out of the relatively few transfers out of the program a very high percentage seem to land at PSU. In addition to Jeremiah Dominguez we can add Jamie Jones, Alex Tiefenthaler and now Tim Douglas. Am I forgetting anyone else? I wonder what the draw is that makes PSU such a popular destination. Sure, the argument can be made that Dominguez is from Salem and wanted to stay near his home but the others are from out of state and I would think especially in Jones and Douglas's cases would have a number of opportunities to choose from.

One big reason - they all know each other very, very well from balling together all summer long. Also, PSU tends to be a little lazy at recruiting (my opinion), has taken a number of transfers, and usually has an opening or two.

Maybe Rev should take a page out of the old Bo Ryan "Book for Releasing Possible Transfers"

Re: Did someone say today is first day spring signing period?
The WCC already has rules in place that force a player who transfers intraconference to sit out an additional year. There have been a few examples of players getting around that by going to a JuCo for a year and then going to another WCC school, but that's pretty rare.
Of course, Rob Jones and SMC is a whole other story...

We have 2 open scholarships for 2012-2013. We have 1 committed and feel close on the other. 1st one should sign in 2 days, due to logistics.
So, should we be concerned that we didn't get that commitment in 2 days like Rev expected?
Sounds like we are still close on another Euro.

There remains the possibility that someone who has authority to decide when the receipt of a men's basketball LOI will be published on the site has delayed publication of receipt of one anticipating receipt of a second shortly. If so, the news is not necessarily bad. I think we can still be highly optimistic that Pressley has signed, at this point . . .or so we hope.
Otherwise, its back to the salt mines for Reveno.

Pressley is signed, hope the trip to Spain was productive. Do we know who or at least what position he went over there looking at?
Quick poll, if you could pick a position to fill with the last scholarship, which one would it be?

Good point. Portland never has been very quick to officially announce recruit signings.

From Rev this morning:
Very excited to welcome 6'4" guard Bryce Pressley from Jesuit HS in Sacramento to the Portland Pilots program.

Re: Did someone say today is first day spring signing period?
Well dang that is confirmation of some good news. Good shooter, athletic, plays hard. Unlikely that Pressley has the ball handling skills to spell Carr and Rogers. A big guard/small forward type, obviously. Let's hope he competes for minutes right away.
It is not so far fetched to assume Carr may be piloting the "Pirate" ship next fall.
Hoping the excursion to Spain amounts to more than an endurance test.

@CoachReveno Coach...you will be delighted by his game, personality, desire to improve - and amazing upside.
One SacBee sports writer who no doubt observed our intrepid recruit on several occasions thinks highly of Pressley, as he informed Reveno via twitter.
