Duck Soccer Stadium?
So, while I was watching the Oregon baseball lose to Kent State, I noticed some construction that is apparently a new soccer/lacrosse stadium for them. I looked up some renderings of it and thought that I would show them to you.

If you look closely enough, on page 7 you might see that they intend on putting up a picture of our soccer team on their wall. How nice of them.

They are pretty used to that scene.
The stadium is quite a bit smaller than the rendering they had when the $200 million football complex was announced. The general concept is the same. It's smack up against Autzen because it is where the high rollers and corporate tents will do their tailgating..... Catered, I'm sure. The fan services office is probably not for the soccer games.
The seating seems smaller. Hopefully, there will be room for the bowl originally shown. I know a school, (ahem) where they built a stadium and never imagined they would need room for future expansion.

If this really happens, it's going to make the football fans super po'd. They about went ballistic when the baseball field was built and took up prime parking spaces. This new soccer field is right in the middle of the tailgaters' area.

Re: Duck Soccer Stadium?
No, it's right in the BEST tailgaters area.... The part with the cable hookups and power provided. But the high rollers all get a parking garage and they will probably do more cable hookups.
The peones will get shoved across the road onto the Elks property or such for game day.

Re: Duck Soccer Stadium?
Just curious. Do many college soccer "stadiums" have visiting team locker rooms? Only asking as a couple of years ago when Florida played the Pilots, a lot of their team went straight to the bus with some changing clothes in the parking lot for their flight home. Looking at the renderings, it wasn't clear and I also don't recall locker rooms at UW or OSU.

Well it looks like it is time to "Keep up with the Joneses." I hope the U can spiff up Merlo--that new front entry, statue, etc., is overdue!

Not only that, but I think that some of those banners on the backside of the stadium are a little worn out/outdated. But, I endorse this idea!

Re: Duck Soccer Stadium?
I am looking at this field while watching the Ducks play Colorado on the Pac 12 Network. The stands and all look nice and typical Oregon in terms of the artwork, but that field is hideous in my opinion. Aside from the 'O' at midfield that is larger than the midfield circle and the giant yellow "Oregon" written below that, the other travesty in my opinion is the fact that there are O's around the corner flags in the turf. They are a lighter shade of green than the turf around them. I am personally all about the traditional green grass for all sports, but Oregon reminds me of the kid that wants all of the gizmos and gadgets for their new toy, no matter how it looks.
Has anyone been there in person yet? The facility seems quite nice otherwise.

Yes. I put a picture in the Oregon game thread. Didn't notice the logos in the corners but it doesn't surprise me. It's typical Oregon, they like things bold, for better or worse.
