I Love Rob Conner Empty I Love Rob Conner

I’m a big fan of Coach Rob Conner, and this video interview does not diminish that view. I don’t know when it was recorded (in the winter of 2010?), but it doesn’t matter, because it’s still Rob giving his “Secrets to Success,” and it’s Rob being Rob.

It was uploaded on July 19, 2012 to RunnerSpace.com. It's worth a look, I think you'll like it!

From the USTFCCCA today:
The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced on Tuesday the winners of USTFCCCA Region Athletes and Coaches of the Year honors for the 2012 cross country season in Division I as voted by the division’s coaches.

Louisville will host the NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships on Saturday at E.P. “Tom” Sawyer State Park. The women’s race is slated to begin at Noon, eastern, followed by the men’s at 1:15 p.m., eastern.

A live webcast of the championships will be broadcast on NCAA.com.

WEST REGION – Rob Conner, Portland
Conner is in his 23rd season leading the ninth-ranked Pilots. Portland’s West Coast Conference title was their 33rd in the past 34 years.
Rob last won the same honor in 2007.

Seriously, could there be a better representative for UP than Coach Conner!! cheers

Now 55, Rob's in his 30th year on The Bluff...and it turns out he originally wanted to a sports journalist.

Another excellent podcast with Kerry Eggers (you can read the text too, but you'll learn more about Rob's love of wrestling and Roman Gabriel from the podcast).  Razz

Saw Rob at the UP Alumni Reunion recently and learned that assistant Jack Mullaney was taking the reins as the head coach of the Portland State Cross Country and Track and Field program...which he did last Friday.

But now..."Cross Country/Track and Field Coaching Search Re-Opened" as Jack changes his mind and plans to remain at UP.

Hmm.

...and now Jack has changed his mind once again and has taken over as the coach of 20 professional athletes at NAZ.
