Re: Gonzaga Notes
6-10 combo forward Domantas Sabonis, Arvydas' son, is being heavily recruited by Gonzaga. He’s currently in the 2015 class, playing for Unicaja Malaga in Spain, but might reclassify to 2014 so he can get to the US and start preparing for the NBA.
Born in Portland, Sabonis is considered a high-major prospect by most scouts.

Re: Gonzaga Notes
The sky is falling over on the GU board with Davis going to SDSU. As it stands for them -
PF - Meikle
C - Karnowski, Dower, Edwards
They might look a little thin in the front court (Meikle and Edwards will both be freshman) but they've got those great guards coming back and I'm sure Few will land another big or two this summer.
Gonzaga will still be good but next year might just be BYU's year.

Interesting…GU just made an offer to class of 2013 Dominic Woodson out of Round Rock, Texas. It’s interesting because Dominic is a 4-star 6-10 295 center…..and GU already has two 7-footers…a sophomore and an incoming freshman.DeanMurdoch wrote:The sky is falling over on the GU board with Davis going to SDSU. I’m thinking Coach Few is seeing a move to PF for the 4-star.

Re: Gonzaga Notes
21 D1 schools in the state of Texas and this 4-star 6-10 centre isn't considering any of them? Strange.
I'd guess it will be tough for Woodson to turn down Memphis or Rhode Island with their intriguing new coach Hurley.

Not sure, but I think he'd only be a centre if he ended up in Canada or the UK....DeanMurdoch wrote:21 D1 schools in the state of Texas and this 4-star 6-10 centre isn't considering any of them? Strange.
Although, Spokane is darned close.

Silly.
he could go to school in Kentucky and meet the criteria.

Looks like a lot of NCAA banners on the wall. maybe more than the Zags.

Hmm, I see instead of taking a chance and calling the Centre centre a center, they just list them him as a C.PurpleGeezer wrote:he could go to school in Kentucky and meet the criteria.DoubleDipper wrote:Not sure, but I think he'd only be a centre if he ended up in Canada or the UK....

Nine of the 10 WCC head coaches shared a sigh of relief today as Dominic Woodson commits to Memphis for the coming season.DoubleDipper wrote:Interesting…GU just made an offer to class of 2013 Dominic Woodson out of Round Rock, Texas. Re: Gonzaga Notes
Woodson was originally signed by Baylor, but was then released.....Woodson put himself back on the market earlier this month after Baylor big men Isaiah Austin and Cory Jefferson chose to stay in school. At 6-10/315 Woodson will certainly have an impact.DeanMurdoch wrote:21 D1 schools in the state of Texas and this 4-star 6-10 centre isn't considering any of them? Strange.

Re: Gonzaga Notes
Yea, a wonderful pickup for GU, Melson is another Jefferson of Portland player who "needed to get away."DeanMurdoch wrote:And off to Gonzaga goes Silas Melson. Their first commit for 2014.
Obviously UP observed him play at some point, but to the best of my knowledge never actively recruited the 3-star shooting guard.
There are a lot of factors in the equation when a school sets its sights on a student/athlete; I don't think young Silas matched what UP is looking for.
But dang, it sure would be nice to get a Portland area player......

Re: Gonzaga Notes
It would seem what happens in Spokane always has some effect on UP, and in the latest case, it’s the one that got away…..
Very thin at the forward position, GU has been pursuing senior-to-be 6-9/220 Richard Amardi a former signee at Iowa St, but he just became Dana Altman’s 6th senior transfer in the last 3 years at UO.
I’m sure there’ve always been high expectations for Amardi after he graduated from God’s Academy in Scarborough, Canada, but he's most recently been at Indian Hills Community College in Iowa where he was a PF.

Whoa now...us Canadians have nothing to do with that God's Academy school (Dallas) that allegedly has had numerous academic issues over the last few seasons.DoubleDipper wrote:I’m sure there’ve always been high expectations for Amardi after he graduated from God’s Academy in Scarborough, Canada, but he's most recently been at Indian Hills Community College in Iowa where he was a PF.

Now that you mention it, Scarborough could probably use some attention from the big fella. Some of the worst neighbourhoods in the country are in that area.DoubleDipper wrote:Just seemed funny that God would be in Scarborough.

Um, finals in July? It's been just in the last year that I've finally gotten over the same nightmare everyone has about finals and not attending class or studying..... Hope you did both!

The mustachioed one, former Gonzaga star Adam Morrison, still beloved in Spokane, is “taking some classes” and will be joining Mark Few’s staff as a “Student Assistant” this coming season.
