Congratulations to the Pilots for their first win of the season.

Down 31-21 at the half in Moscow tonight, and still down by 10 with11 minutes remaining in the game, the Pilots went on a 19-4 run to outscore the Vandals 62-56 and take their first win of the year.

The Pilots were lead by super soph Kari Luttinen with 18 points and 14 rebounds; Amy Pupa had 12 points and 10 boards; and Cassandra Thompson contributed 9 points and 14 rebounds.

There will be few wins for the Pilots this season, but they have little time to savor this one as they now board the bus to Eastern Washington U. for a game on Sunday afternoon.

It was dismal weekend for UP sports………..and the Women’s Basketball Team contributed its share by dropping today’s game at Eastern Washington 68-50.

Terrible shooting and turnovers never allowed the Pilots to dig out of a early hole.

Two bright spots: Finnish freshmen Ellen Nurmi (12 pts) and Annika Holopainen (10 pts).

Next up: Seattle U. on Friday evening in Seattle, then Boston College or Sacred Heart on Saturday in Seattle.
