Pilots vs. UW on Thursday and @ PSU on Sunday
The Pilots have never beaten UW, and that streak is sure to remain unbroken tomorrow night at 7 PM in the Chiles Center. The Huskies are again very strong this year, and as we all know, UP is young and inexperienced.
After a grueling few days of practice since their last game, UP will attempt to return to the fundamentals against a much faster, stronger, and taller UW team. No expectations except to improve individual and team play by cutting down on turnovers, making free throws, and being in position at both ends of the court.
The game can be watched via live streaming on the Portland Pilots website, but as it's their first home game of the season, I'm sure the team would appreciate your support in person.

Re: Pilots vs. UW on Thursday and @ PSU on Sunday
It turned out that being down 25-9 at the end of the first half was just too big a hole to dig out of tonight as the Pilots lost to UW 64-44.
I could go into all kind of torturous details about the game, but UW is simply the better team, and it won. I’m sure the UP Athletics website will post something soon for those who are interested.

I have to say, that was a spectacular first half.
We at least manged to stay within four points of them for the second half even though they started it with a three.
And UW wasn't very good either. They hit under 30% from the field, 27% from three, and 50% from the foul line. They aren't winning the pac12 or anything.

That first half was, well, a first for me. I've never seen two college teams combine for that kind of performance.
Did you know, until their last basket of the half the Pilots were shooting 9% from the field?

Geez probably knew, but I turned off the stats on my tablet about half way through....seen enough.PurplePrideTrumpet wrote:Did you know, until their last basket of the half the Pilots were shooting 9% from the field?
Doubt I'll go to the Stott Center for the PSU game; the double frustration/stress of parking the car and watching the Pilots might be more than I want to submit to.

Re: Pilots vs. UW on Thursday and @ PSU on Sunday
Once again cold shooting (29%) and a poor first half (just 17 points) doomed the Pilots in their loss to PSU, 64-49. The only positive I saw over previous games was the free throw shooting (10-14).
Just five more games, including another against PSU at the Chiles Center, before WCC play begins. I don’t see the Pilots winning any of those games. Frankly, I see the Pilots winning only two games all season, but on a positive note, they’re half way there!
Nevada next, on Pearl Harbor day in the Chiles Center…and then its finals week; let’s hope they do better in the classroom than they’re doing on the court.
