Re: Past Opponents' Results
Our 1st and 2nd round opponents in the Continental Tire Classic both won today. CSUB beat Mississippi Valley, and North Florida beat Georgia Southern. Yesterday UNF beat CSUB.
And, in case you didn’t see it, yesterday New Mexico finally lost a game after 12 wins, losing to the South Dakota State Jackrabbits in Albuquerque 70-65.

Which had NO effect on UP's ranking with either Pomeroy or Sagarin....at least they didn't trend downward.PilotNut wrote:New Mexico (now 13-1) won at previously unbeaten #8 Cincinnati (12-1), 55-54!

I don't know about Pomeroy, but Sagarin hasn't updated his rankings since the 25th. They are pretty quick, but not that quick.

Re: Past Opponents' Results
Ha ha, yea Jeff seems to be taking a couple of days off (there were no D-1 games on 12/26), but Ken had his rankings up early last night (at about 10:30 PST) showing the Pilots steady at #209. Sagarin has the Pilots at #214…..a big improvement from #240 before the Bradley game.blacksheep wrote:I don't know about Pomeroy, but Sagarin hasn't updated his rankings since the 25th. Re: Past Opponents' Results
Yep, no change for Sagarin either...UP is still at 214 and holding.
The game against Texas-Pan Am will do nothing to help the Pilots if they win as T-PA is ranked #314.....but a Pilots loss would be worse than the road loss in Bozeman for the team's ranking.
BTW, Montana St. is now ranked #284; their only D-1 win is against UP.

Realtime RPI is a bit kinder to us. As I write, they have UP's RPI dipping just under 200 at 194.
Wise folks.
Not sure what the players were thinking in Montana...

Re: Past Opponents' Results
Well, as the Pilots are 1-1 in games that went against form.....and to engender a positive attitude heading into the New Year and WCC play, I suggest we talk about how well the team came together without KB to beat Bradley in Las Vegas to complete the tournament 3-1.DeanMurdoch wrote:Can we just quit talking about the Montana State game? I, for one, will not mention the November 18 game again....bygones.

Re: Past Opponents' Results
Some really good games on the TV today....
No. 4 Louisville held off intrastate rival Kentucky, 80-77, at a raucous KFC Yum! Center. The Cardinals had the Wildcats totally befuddled with their pressure defense, but UK made a comeback.
Expect Kentucky to have something to say about the Final Four this year....they are starting to come together.
UNC beat No. 20 UNLV in Chapel Hill 79-73....the Rebels looked about like they did against the Pilots even with Mosier in the lineup.
Anthony Bennett is terrific, but UNLV hasn't looked like a top 20 team on the two occasions I've seen them.

Montana State...4 wins, two of which are against DI teams, Portland and Portland State.
Portland college basketball summarized: Vikings can't play a lick of defense. Pilots can't hit water when they're walking on the beach. If you put them together it would be a decent team.

Or, it would be a team that can't score and can't stop anyone.PurplePrideTrumpet wrote:Portland college basketball summarized: Vikings can't play a lick of defense. Pilots can't hit water when they're walking on the beach. If you put them together it would be a decent team.

Haha, I hope you're not an electrician, NPN....they're not red, they're orange!!NoPoNeighbor wrote:Why is CSU wearing red?
It’s a once-a-year thing, and now a tradition for CSU to have its “Orange Out” night to celebrate the history of Colorado State. The Rams don their orange “Aggies” jerseys to honor the history of what was once Colorado Agricultural and Mechanical College, and when they wore predominantly orange uniforms.
The school asks the fans to wear their orange as well.

They do it for football now too. Orange ram horns on the helmets this year, ridic.
(It's pumpkin and alfalfa, for the record. Not orange and green.)

Re: Past Opponents' Results
USF was within 1 point with less than 6 minutes to go against GU today at War Memorial, but the Bulldogs’ pedigree showed through in the final minutes as they pulled away to a 71-61 win to the chants of, “We are GU” coming from the GU faithful. It was GU’s first win at USF in four years, I believe.
I don’t see anyone getting more votes than Kelly Olynyk for WCC Player of the Year…..the guy is unbelievably better after redshirting a year to get bigger and better. Some are now even predicting he’ll head to the NBA next year.

Re: Past Opponents' Results
Down by 11 at the half at UNLV, the CSU Rams just couldn't make it all the way back and lost 61-59 tonight......their first loss since losing to another UP opponent, New Mexico, four weeks ago.
CSU plays UNM again on Saturday, this time at home. Still grinding and 21-5.

Heartbreaker. Only time this year we've been outrebounded, I think.
