Timbers Make-A-Wish Event, 5/1/13
This event is amazing... it should be a blast. I plan on attending in support of Atticus & The Green Machine, not to mention a highly enjoyable lunch break! The facebook page shows over 1,100 people attending, not counting the bus loads of kids that are noted to be showing up. This should be a very special event... Please consider attending.

Timbers team up with Make-A-Wish Oregon to grant special wish
Select Timbers to play game against local child, teammates May 1 at JELD-WEN Field
PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland Timbers are teaming up with Make-A-Wish® Oregon to grant the wish of a local child. Select Timbers players and coaches will participate in a friendly against eight-year-old Atticus and his soccer team, The Green Machine, on Wednesday, May 1, at 11:30 a.m. (Pacific) at JELD-WEN Field.
Atticus learned he had cancer last fall when he started to feel pain while playing soccer and missed his last game of the season. When he had the chance to make a wish, he chose to scrimmage the Timbers. Atticus and his teammates will take on some of his favorite Timbers players, including Darlington Nagbe, Will Johnson, Jack Jewsbury and Mikael Silvestre, at JELD-WEN Field. Timbers head coach Caleb Porter and assistant coach Sean McAuley will coach the teams.
“It is an honor to team up with Make-A-Wish and to be a part of this special wish for Atticus,” said Caleb Porter, Timbers head coach. “We are excited to see The Green Machine take the field at JELD-WEN Field and help create special memories for this young man.”
Fans are welcome to attend the match and admission is free; doors open at 11:15 a.m. The first 100 fans will receive a commemorative scarf and free pizza from Papa Murphy’s.
Additionally, Atticus, his family and friends will enjoy a unique game-day experience during the Timbers’ home match Thursday, May 2, against the New England Revolution as part of his wish.

Congrats to all involved... today's event was amazing! A crowd of 3,000 were on hand to root for the Green Machine, including the Timbers Green Machine Army in full voice! Thanks to Atticus' nutmeg goal in the 26th minute, the Green Machine won 10-9.

Re: Timbers Make-A-Wish Event, 5/1/13
That was one of the coolest things I have ever had the pleasure to see. Credit to all involved. While the team could have just brought them to the Beaverton facility for a practice autograph session, they chose to go all out and give them a day to remember. All the little touches like the announcing of the lineups and playing of the anthem made this seem big time. Not to mention the community presence. And I loved seeing a guy with five EPL titles to his name go to ground in a mock slide tackle on an 8-year old. I love this club.

Same old same old.
The Timbers get somebody sent off for a pretty questionable foul and another foul in he Box on a Timber is ignored.
