Re: Other scores
I know the Hillsboro venue will disappoint St. Mary's Academy grad and former UP player Elinor Priest.....she was really hoping her Northern Arizona team would play for the championship at Merlo Field.....PurplePrideTrumpet wrote:The Vikings went undefeated in the Big Sky. Conference tournament will be November 7 & 9 at Hillsboro Stadium. The final is during the Pilots' home game but the semis are at 12:00 and 3:00.
I told her mom that would NEVER happen!!

Re: Other scores
With an OT win over Kentucky today, Missouri took a big jump to an unadjusted RPI better than 80. The Pilots' win over them now earns the Pilots an RPI bonus adjustment.
Re: Other scores
As gnarly mentioned on another thread, the Ducks beat Cal tonight 1-0. A very big win for the Ducks and good for the Pilots too.
Oregon now is #93 in the unadjusted RPI. We need them to get to 80. If they do, then the Pilots will get some bonus points from their win in Eugene.

Re: Other scores
Tough call in the Beavers vs. USC that just ended. With 14 seconds left in 2OT, Beavers were called for a handball in the box - the defender was facing away from the kicker (arms mostly down and to her sides). It hit her back first, and then (maybe) her elbow.
The Pac-12 Network announcers called the Beavers keeper's performance the best by any keeper in the country this year.

Re: Other scores
Here's a pretty big one.
Virginia Tech just beat #1 Virginia 4-2 to advance to the ACC final
It seems like that conference just beats itself to death every year at the end of the season.

FSU beat UNC 2-1 on two own goals to get to the final against VT.
Marquette beat Saint johns 2-0.
Both were good for our RPI against SCU
We stand right now at 15.
WVA snuck in at 16, and SCU is at 17 in the ARPI

VT is coached by former Timber Chugger Adair. It's been a good couple of days for PTFC.Geezaldinho wrote:Here's a pretty big one.

Completely unrelated, but one of the more delightful descriptions of an athlete I have ever read said that those who saw him would never forget him, a man with "both the stature (and mobility) of an Easter Island totem." Too lazy to look up the reference, but what imagery!

Re: Other scores
I recall Chugger, but mostly because of his name when he was at USD in the early ‘90’s. He was very, very good……….maybe even an All-America.
I suppose he could resemble an Easter Island totem, but I’ve also heard that reference used for Secretary of State John Kerry.

Re: Other scores
There are both offensive and defensive players on the line. I note that player #14, who is a defender, is heading the ball out of the danger area.

Half a loaf:
UCF tied 0-0 with Rutgers. And that's how it goes in the RPI.
Going into KFTM now?
<edit> UCF wins the shootout 8-7

Oddly, I happened to turn on the game in time to only see the final 2 PKs. The last WSU miss - it looked like that was a good 10-15 feet above the crossbar. wow.
