Women's Soccer Visualizations
I've been working with some neat visualization tools, and thanks to nc-soccer.com's data (Thanks Shane!), I put together a couple of visuals for women's soccer - http://soccer.moulliet.com/
Right now there's one for showing the games results of the top 100 (64, 40, 25) teams, and another for showing RPI element contributions for any team. Historical data too. Data gets updated every day at midnight.
If you have anything you'd like to see, let me know

Fun to play with. Thanks.
You might want to consider a time lapse of how a team's RPI changes week to week.

Re: Women's Soccer Visualizations
One other suggestion. Those of us who are Red-Green color blind have a hard time distinguishing between the red and green lines. Any chance you could change one of them to blue or some other color that would be easier for us to see? Thanks!

Re: Women's Soccer Visualizations
Good idea, A_Fan. I changed the colors to (hopefully) be more color blind friendly, and after reading up on it, also added dashes so that color isn't the only differentiator.
Sounds interesting Geez. What do you think that time lapse would look like?

One time lapse i viewed recently on protests around the world here is instructive.
http://www.ultraculture.org/watch-a-jaw-dropping-visualization-of-every-protest-since-1979/
im not sure how you would set it up, but i guess the circles would have to be relatively fixed over the season, with their sizes varied and new ones added. and I guess to make it flow, there would have to be some blending frame to frame.
But part of why i mentioned it is that i don't really have a sense of how RPI changes over a season.
the Protest one I linked to really brings home the change. i was hoping an RPI one would as well.
and here's one that seems to show that folks in Oregon don't much like getting up to go to work.

Thanks for the change, it makes it much easier to follow for those of us with special visual acuity.

Re: Women's Soccer Visualizations
I played around with trying to make a time lapse feature for rpi, and it felt pretty klunky, so I took a different route, using a line chart over the course of the season. If you click on a conference, it will highlight all the teams in thta conference on the graph. If you hover over a team in the table, it will highlight them in the graph.

The prediction column is based on the WLT percentages listed here - https://sites.google.com/site/rpifordivisioniwomenssoccer/rpi-measuring-the-correlation-between-teams-ratings-and-their-performance
The algorithm runs 500 simulations, and then averages those.
I used a color scheme that should (hopefully) be RG color blind friendly
Let me know what you think.
