Re: Seattle @ Portland November 16th
Without much looking, one common opponent is UW, who beat Seattle 5-0. We fared better. I think it bodes well for the Pilots this Friday.
Let's get the first one and worry about the rest later.

Re: Seattle @ Portland November 16th
IIRC, last year Seattle beat us or at least played us well. I remember them as skilled and scrappy. But perhaps that was 2 years ago.
Anyway we have a different team now.

It's November 16, as the athletic office has told season ticket holders. The bracket put the 15th in as a default.

Re: Seattle @ Portland November 16th
There is some confusion as to the date. The UP website lists it as the 15th on the schedule. But the letter to season tickets holders said 16th. Doubtless all will become clear shortly. I'm hoping for Friday night because I have a team commitment for Saturday evening.

Isn't there a men's home match on Friday night? It would be a little crowded on Merlo!

Re: Seattle @ Portland November 16th
Not a bad draw. Assuming UP and WSU get past the first round, that could be tough match. And you never know what the weather will be like in Nebraska in mid November. Assuming the Cornhuskers make it through the first round.
Too bad Stanford and UCLA are in the same bracket. While Stanford didn't have their recent form, they are still dangerous and I'm betting South Carolina isn't chomping at the bit to play them.
Denver and BYU could be also be a good rematch.
The ACC teams with 4 No. 1 seeds. Not a lot of respect for any other conferences...

I like this draw for the Pilots. I feel good about the first 2 matches. I feel like the Pilots have the type of team play that can beat the Huskers. Then it would likely be on to a match up with the Seminoles. That will be a real test. I am feeling good with this.

Re: Seattle @ Portland November 16th
Very pleased tonight...not only with the play (on both sides), but also the fairness of the ref. The only negative tonight was two inappropriate chants by Villa. Usually I back them 100%, but they disappointed on two occasions tonight with a blue call and with a rude call. They had been great all season...this was the only dropoff.
Oh, and by the way, I am still seething that Lo didn't get all-WCC honors.

Yeah, I feel like they went too far when the Seattle player was down hurt and had to be carried off the field. Jeering an injured player is never cool.purple passion wrote:The only negative tonight was two inappropriate chants by Villa. Geez, I'm glad you like the gifs! Here's one of Micaela getting taken down and earning the PK:

Looks like a penalty.
Too bad Mic doesn't get an assists for the dummy. Great pass from Boon.
Classic penalty shot by Amanda.

Re: Seattle @ Portland November 16th
Good result. Sippel subbing in and Cappelle’s reinsertion seemed to ignite the Pilot attack in the second half.
I hope Frisbie is not slowed badly by her leg injury. She seemed to be hobbling by the end of the match.
Go Pilots.

Re: Seattle @ Portland November 16th
Seattle's speed kept them in this game. The Pilots did not look in playoff form. Their passes were errant and anemic and too often intercepted as they were not beating Seattle to the ball. Garrett was likewise frustrated by the end of the game and was more vocal. This was a letdown after such a fantastic game against SC. It's win or go home! They need to leave it all on the field.
Ellie had a good game and the defense played well. I agree that Sippel was a spark and Micaela ignited the offense.

Re: Seattle @ Portland November 16th
I thought Seattle was better organized and better defensively than SCU, and I think Garrett expected exactly what we got.
They also kept a lot of players behind the ball so it was always going to be tough to break through.

Re: Seattle @ Portland November 16th
BTW, we saw a record tied last night and another one getting closer.
Amanda is tied with Dani for single season PK's with Four (2009), and she just jumped ahead of somebody named Sinclair (2005).
And she is now only one behind Dani for career PK's made (7). That also ties her with Christine for second place. It took Dani 10 KFTM to make her 7. Amanda is at 6 out of 7 tries.
