NCAA Seeds
GU gets an #8 seed, against OK St, in San Diego. If they get through that game, they play #1 seed Arizona.
BYU gets a #10, opening against Oregon. Wisconsin is the @#2 seed in that bracket, and the games are in Milwaukee.

A brutal matchup vs. Ok St. for the Zags... I'm surprised to see the Cougars that high.

I hope they prove me wrong, but I just don’t see BYU even belonging in the tournament.PilotNut wrote:A brutal matchup vs. Ok St. for the Zags... I'm surprised to see the Cougars that high.
Before the injury to Kyle Collingsworth, perhaps, but without the player I consider to be BYU’s MVP, I just don’t see them seeded as high as #10.
Oregon could advance to the Sweet 16….BYU will not.
Last year GU bombed-out after receiving a #1 seed; maybe this year they can prove that game was just a fluke, but I believe OSU to be one of the more capable and tough teams in the tournament.
Except for Sam Dower, I just don’t see GU having an answer for Marcus Smart, LeBryan Nash, and Markel Brown. I look for the Bulldogs to go home early......

USF and SMC both gain #4 seeds in the NIT.
SMC will play #5 Utah on Tuesday on ESPN2 and USF will play #5 LSU on Wednesday on ESPNU.

Great comeback by the Gaels tonight in Moraga. Stephen Holt led the comeback before fouling out with 5+ minutes left, but SMC just kept scoring and getting stops before winning, 70-58 after being down by at least 13 points at one stage.DoubleDipper wrote:SMC will play #5 Utah on Tuesday on ESPN2.....
Next up for SMC is Minnesota.

It was never close in San Diego.....USD had 5 players in double-figures and PSU had no answer in the Toreros 87-65 victory.DoubleDipper wrote:......and in the CIT, Portland St. will travel to USD on Tuesday night.....

OSU makes the Pilots' loss to them even more painful because Radford just went into Gill and beat them.
Can't spell Craig Robinson without C-B-I.

Re: NCAA Seeds
USF just couldn't find their 3-point shooting range (3/23), and despite Cole Dickerson's great play in his final game at USF, the Dons lost to LSU 71-63 tonight in SF.
Tough to tell what was going on in the broadcaster's booth.....Bill Walton went on and on about the 60's and 70's until I finally had to mute him.....and I'm a product of the 60's.

The Pacific Tigers came roaring back in the second half tonight and knocked Grand Canyon out of the CIT, 69-67.

Both WCC CIT teams are still alive.....
USD won 77-72 at Sam Houston St.
UOP won at home over Texas A&M Corpus Christi, 89-60

Arrrrgh, but now the two WCC teams have to play each other on Wednesday night in Stockton!! Well, they are sure to get a better crowd there than they would have in San Diego.DoubleDipper wrote:Both WCC CIT teams are still alive.....

Re: NCAA Seeds
The last WCC team left in the NIT went out today.....#4 St. Mary's got off to a 14-0 (it could have been an even larger lead if they could have hit their free-throws), but eventually lost at #1 Minnesota, 63-55.
SMC's defense kept them in the game, but except for senior Stephen Holt, SMC's offense was stagnant, and the better team won.

Re: NCAA Seeds
I have to give credit where credit is due, however.
GU beat an Oklahoma St. squad that featured better athletes.....but the Zags prevailed with teamwork, better play-making and better coaching. It was a game I did not expect them win.
They had NO chance against Arizona....that was obvious from the outset.
My hope now is that Kevin Pangos will rest for about six months and be ready for a stellar senior year......except against UP, of course.

USD just couldn't get it going this evening in Stockton, losing to Pacific 75-60.
USD shot 2/20 from 3-point range....Johnny Dee scored only 9 points.

The WCC basketball is finally over after Pacific was blown out a Murray State, 98-75.....it was never close.
UOP finishes the season at 18-16.....a record UP could/should have easily achieved, IMO.
