Linfield
Good night on the Bluff to watch soccer and a chance to see the Freshmen. It looks like several will be regular contributors.
Maybe not the toughest competition, (Linfield only brought a 12 man squad and they were toasted by halftime). Final score, 4-0 all in the first half.
The best part was a good crowd and a student section that was ready in volume and numbers.

PORTLAND, Ore. --- University of Portland freshman Erik Edwardson scored two goals and added an assist as the Pilots beat Linfield in an exhibition match before a record setting crowd of 4,194 fans Friday night at Merlo Field. The announced attendance, which included a record 2,205 Pilot students, was the most ever for a Portland men's soccer game.

Re: Linfield
What a wonderful atmosphere created by the student section last evening.....
Having grown accustomed to being one of only a few fans at the men's soccer games, it was quite a pleasant and unexpected surprise to see so many fans. I'm guessing 1100 of those fans were freshmen attending the game as part of their orientation weekend on the Bluff.....let's just hope they continue to attend once classes start and the weather turns wet and cool.
Now, if there was just some way to bring those 2,200 students to the basketball games......
